Recent order - Delayed

Hello,

This is my first post.

I placed an order tonight for a few items
Asus P5WDH
Seasonic 600W PSU
Corsair 2x1GB DDR2 CAS5
Conroe 6600/2.4Ghz

I received an e-mail stating that the CPU isn't going to be available until 28/07, how firm is that ?

If the entire order's going to be delayed until Friday I'll be requiring that the CPU be sent separately or removed from the order so I can get the rest of the gear sent on Monday for delivery on Tuesday.

The CPU isn't officially out until Monday, and the automated email is an estimation... there's a very good chance they'll be in sooner than this - but we can't really confirm this until Monday.

I had thought that scan (and a lot of retailers) would have had their stock in by now and allocated it to exisiting orders, obviously with people like me (ordering late) at the end of the queue.

I'll await more info on Monday.

The scan site shows the ones which are in stock - even if they can sell em yet!!

EDIT: Well it did say the EE was in stock but not anymore!

Nice choice on the 6600 the best overclocker on air/water! Ill wait for reviews and if there good ill grab one.

Do you know at which time i will be able to phone monday to see if my conroe will be shipping that day, I know a place which has guaranteed me a delivery on tuesday (an old friend who i can trust), if scan wont send the chip out on monday. Scan would also have to credit me the money back if i cancelled as they already debited my card.

Again, can you please let me know the latest time i could ring up on monday and confirm my order is shipping or cancel the order.

Hard to say really, as we get deliveries up to 7pm every day. If you called around 1-2 - theres a good chance we'd have had most of the deliveries in.

Hi David,

Monday's mostly by with, any confirmation of delivery dates ? Any chance of stock of the E6600 this week ? The site still indicates 1-2 working days when you hover the mouse over the Core 2 Duo range.

I have read elsewhere that stock is unlikely to be available until the middle of august or even later, is that accurate ? If it is then I'm calling tomorrow or Wednesday to change my order as I need this order delivered before Friday this week due to work commitments.
In addition the Asus P5WDH that I ordered has now went out of stock, although it was in stock when the order was placed, what gives ?

Am I the only person completely unimpressed by the lack of information coming from scan regarding the supply of the conroe CPU's ? They still show as 1-2 days leadtime on the site.

I understand that the lack of supply is down to Intel but in my opinion keeping customers informed is a key factor in them giving more business later.

I am very unhappy that the complete funds have been taken from my account even though I have been given no proper indication of when my order will ship, and that as one item is holding my order up apparently nothing will ship until that becomes available. Going from what I've seen elsewhere that could be 2 weeks or more from now.

I cancelled my £600+ 'conroe' order yesterday, will take 2-3 days to credit me even though Scan never did anything towards getting the items to me......thats a liberty I say.

Also, 2 other items that were in stock when I placed the order had been sold to others, hense even if the CPUs had come into stock I wouldn't have been sent my order because someone else had taken my allotment of mobo and CPU cooler.

As with most companies, you never actually find out whats bad about them until something out of the ordinary happens.......the conroe fiasco has highlighted a few things with scan I don't like

Switching to Tekheads myself (shame for scan as I am an individual and I have placed at least a few grand of orders in the last 12 months), better feedback, allotment of items at the order stage and I don't see any money taken from my account until the order ships.

Sorry for the lack of information regarding delivery of Conroe processors, the issue is that we simply have had no information to give you up until this point as the CPU was only released yesterday and suppliers have had no information regarding lead times.

However we now have an update, which is not good news I’m afraid

Very short supply and extremely high demand, which is causing these major delays.

If you already placed the order we can cancel the order if you wish due to the long lead time.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I spoke to someone in Scan CS called Chris earlier tonight (maybe yourself ?). I was going to order a S775 P4 to tide me over but as the motherboard had also went out of stock since I placed my order I had no choice but to cancel it.

I hope Scan have let Intel know how many customers they have disappointed with the conroe "launch".
