They do a fairly decent job of cooling, if you're planning on running at stock speeds or mild overclocks, and aren't too particular about noise levels.
However, if you're looking at a £20-£30 price difference between the two, you could just buy the OEM, and buy a much better heatsink (Scythe Ninja, Zalman 9500) with the money you save on that.
I'm running an E6300 with a Scythe Ninja, and it's an infinitely better solution for me, than a stock cooler ever would be.
What's the warrenty like on the OEM chips?
I just bought a retail 6600 and tossed away the stock heatsink. I bought a Arctic Cooling 7 Pro to replace it which is a much better heatsink and fan, and its cheap too!
I've tried the Arctic Cooling 64 Pro, and, being of the same design, can also recommend the 7 Pro...for what they cost, they do a good job of cooling the CPU.
I have the Freezer 7 Pro waiting to install on my E6600 also too :D
Do Oem CPU or heatsink come with the white heatsink paste?
The Scythe Infinty is suppose to be the best one but they still havent arrived in the uk , need to ask lee from scan.
The CPU won't come with any TIM, but your Heatsink usually will do (depending on what you buy)
I have gone through about 7 freezer pro and i have to say they perform great.
Best bang for buck too , but if you can spend about £35-£40 buy the infinty, which should hit the shelves in one or two
warranty on OEM is 12months refund or replacement. retails chips get 3 years.Quote:

Thanks - does the warrenty apply for any HSF in both cases?
not sure about that, will need to check it out with the boys @ scan or such retailer:)
