30£ for checking if the board is working? Who did say this to you? I have tried put my ram stick by stick and also together. It boots but does not post. I'm still waiting for Scan support to answear my question. I will give a final try in about 15 minutes and see if what charleski said me will work. I removed the battery for 14 hours and changed the jumper to pins 2 and 3, now I will put back to pins 1 and 2 and reinstall the battery. I will come back to give a feedback.

You really don't need to remove the battery.

I have reset the CMOS at least 10-15 times on my P5B and everytime all I did was:

    - Switch power off at PSU (remove the kettle lead if your paranoid =P )
    - Move CMOS Clear jumper to pins 2-3
    - Wait 5 seconds
    - Move CMOS Clear jumper back to pins 1-2
    - Turn PSU back on
    - Boot up

And the memory is almost certainly your problem.

I'm going to see it now, if the ram is really the problem.

    Update about the test.

Starting the 3028 test, I think was more than this.

I was trying to see if really was the ram. So I bought a new one very cheap just for the tests. So I put the ram + graphics card + Pentium 550j 3.4 = and the result was both graphics card and the new ram dead, simple they are not working anymore. I lost 210£ for just a simple test. The funny thing I did not do anything. I just put in the sockets the items to see if the P5B Deluxe would boot. The motherboard killed both the Graphics card and the ram. The question is how?

This was my last test. I will not make tests anymore I lost too much. I may lost my crucial 3.3.3.12 bought in June for 180£. I'm not sure about that yet but so far this was the worse moment in all my hardware life and the P5B was the responsible. What a good motherboard. That is really a motherboard killer. I could not imagine, I may had lost more. I have not tested the E6600 yet and also the 74 raptor. I will buy definately another motherboard. I advice anyone that if you buy any motherboard and it did not boot. Please do not try other components.

So far so terrible. lost 400£ in a week that is awesome.

I hope someone from Scan support will see this and give me some advice what to do now.

    Thanks all for you helping.

    Hi, Ati

That P5B Deluxe that I bought came defected from the factory.

I bought a new P5B deluxe and so far so good, no problems what so ever.

You can find it here http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=443853 from Scan.

You will not repent when once bought this wonderful model from Scan.

SO metroid, all is fine now? I was going to buy the P5B (not deluxe) today with E6600 and that same RAM as you have (altho 6400 not 5300 like you have) but if there is a problem i may change my mind.

Just to confirm then it was just a faulty motherboard, and you have a new P5B now that works?

    Thanks.
