    Noni, thanks for the link.

It does look like a nice case but the Clio (when on Today Only) was around £18, plus psu would make it under £30. I have a quality HEC psu. Building for a relative.

Doesn't look like the Akasa has any vents for air at the front? The Clio has vents on the sides at the front.

The AKASA comes with 2x120mm Akasa Amber fans which are of very high quality for a £30 case.

It has vents on the side aswell and the intake is located underneath.

Once again Noni, many thanks. I couldn't find the thread on ocuk earlier.

Edit: The very small intake at the bottom front won't provide much airflow to the hard disk.

Just built in two of these (Akasa) PC cases at work today, I was alarmed at the lack of airflow over the HDs until I noticed I hadn't plugged the front intake fan in on either of them The breeze was more than enough, in my opinion, once I had rectified my problem

Thanks mate. So you think it's good value for the price?

We (myself ) are trying to economise at work, but retain the quality of the machines we build; my boss is usually awful at this. He did the purchasing for this order and was very surprised when I saw Akasa equipment turn up - our previous case supplier (Suntek - RIP as they went bust) was local and their cases were half-decent about 5-6 years ago but they haven't been updated since.

Another budget-ish case I built in recently was the "Coolermaster Centurion RC-534 Black Tower Case w/o PSU" available from Scan. The build quality is slightly better, but is approx £15 more expensive. If memory serves me right, the front to the Coolermaster was aluminium with plastic edges, whereas the Akasa has a completely plastic front to it.

The Coolermaster has 120mm fan mounts, with a blue LED intake fan included. The mesh sides to the front of the case allow the fan allow for the light to shine out either side and I think it works quite well, very subtle but maybe even too much for some peoples likings. Moreover, the Coolermaster mounts the HD bay at a right angle to the usual method - it is said that this can impede airflow but does allow for easier access to the HDs. It does not include a 120mm exhaust, but there is a mount available for it.

The Akasa on the other hand sticks with a more conventional design, standard HD bay, no frilly lights, but also includes 2 clear Akasa 120mm fans in both supplied bays as an intake and an exhaust. As stated previously, the build quality is not as good on the Zen as they are on the RC-534; the buttons don't have that Silverstone buttonpress feel (but I don't expect them to at this price) and the front IO port flap feels a bit crude but again you can't complain at this price.

I see the Akasa as a contender to the Asus TA and TM series cases which on the whole I don't like and are a bit naff, from drive mounting mechanisms to materials used. Although, the Asus (for their price) are styled nicely imo. I'd still go for the Akasa though; get the black on and try and pass it off as a poor-man's Akasa Eclipse-62

    Hope this helps,

    Tobe

I've built two machines with it and it is a nice case, I wanted one more for another build.

Plus when Scan have it on Today Only it's around £18 which is an excellent price.

Now that the Black Akasa Zen is out of stock - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=446040 - any idea when more stock is being delivered?

Otherwise off to ebuyer for an SLK 3000 or NSK 4000
