Seasonic 430w price rise by Scan

Luck is not with me today. I tried to order the Seasonic 430w today and noticed that it is £10 more (including VAT) than it was two days ago. Why has Scan decided to raise the price on this after keeping it at the perfect price for soo long.
Can Scan put the price down on this and challenge other places like gladiatorcomputers.com?; who have this at £40.

Unfortunately our buy price has increased for this item, which has in turn affected the Retail price.

I guess you won't have this on special deals (today only offers) anytime soon.

    This is bizarre.

I posted a few weeks back that it had gone from £31.89 to £39.99 and was told it was because of the supply price. Then earlier this week it was back down to £33 and now it's up to £41.29.

Who're the supplier here scan? www.yoyo-prices.com?

I'd guess they had to buy a batch which cost more money.

Price have been known to go up and down you know.

Yes, but fluctuations of 30% on a product that is neither cutting edge or obsolete is most definately not normal.

Prices on brand new tech drop like stones once the supply meets the demand. On end of life tech (e.g. DDR memory, etc) prices tend to rise as the parts become harder to source. In the middle of this, price fluctations of up to 10% are "normal" unless a new improved version comes along (in which case prices drop).

Furthermore the price of the 330 & 380W versions has remained static throughout.

The supply & demand arguement seems strange in this instance also - most folks seem to be going for 500W+ PSUs. Therefore a big variation in the 500 & 600W versions would be expected but they have remained fairly static too...

All I can confirm is our Buy price has increased therefore we have no option other than to increase the selling price. Also maybe the price decrease to £33 from £39 was originally a mistake and should have stayed at £ 39.00.

Our new buy price then increased to £ 41.29 so in effect the increase in price, ( without the mistake reduction ) is only from £ 39.00 to £ 41.29.

    Regards

Well, at least you're honest enought to admit the drop to £33 was a mistake instead of "market rate"
