I have just received an email informing me that the item I returned under RMA ***** (will PM this when asked) was tested as "no fault found".
I've sent a response to "Returns Tracking" via the website but wanted to post here to highlight the issue and get some feedback from others that may find themselves in a similar situation.
My response was as follows......
"I would just like to outline again the scenario that led me to believe the ASUS AM2 M2NPV-VM motherboard was faulty.
In order to prove the motherboard was faulty I purchased a second ASUS AM2 M2NPV-VM from another vendor as I was unsure if the RAM or motherboard was faulty. With the second motherboard, I built the PC using the same Antec enclosure, Antec PSU, AMD 3800x2 CPU and Corsair RAM. This combination booted first time to BIOS with no problem. Then swapping the second motherboard for the original SCAN supplied ASUS AM2 M2NPV-VM motherboard, the pc would not even POST, failing to boot or produce any beep codes. This led to my conclusion that the original motherboard was faulty as it did not boot whereas the second motherboard worked first time. The only other possible cause I can think of is if the original SCAN supplied motherboard had an earlier (and therefore someway incompatible) BIOS. The BIOS on the motherboard that worked was version 0303. Would it be possible to find out the version on the originally SCAN supplied motherboard as this would potentially identify the issues I had?
I would welcome feedback from forum users from a technical perspective or from those that have been in a similar situation with SCAN before and what the outcome was.
Thanks,
