Oh it should be noted that this monitor does not come with a DVI cable. Only the standard VGA\Audio\Power cables.

    Talking

    hey, thanks for the pics/info.
im looking to buy a 19" black tft and considering getting this one.
@chris: now you've had it for over a week are you still happy with your purchase?
have you noticed anything you think could be better?

    @everyone:
im still not 100% sure on whether to go widescreen or not. i was wondering whether whilst playing games such as bf2 do the games appear stretched?
alternatively, can you play games at a standard size with black lines at the side?

@everyone: for gaming/general web browsing whats your opinion; widescreen or standard?

    thanks

i noticed this yesterday whilst looking out for a new TFT, i wasnt to sure and decided not to in the end - bought myself a Xerox 19" widescreen instead for about the same price so i hope its worth it

if not i'll be selling it to someone at work and picking up one of these bad boys

It's a good value TFT. Build quality not as robust as Dell.
Not good for viewing from an angle, so ok in an environment like a small study.
And personally I still prefer CRT to TFT.

I took a gamble on one of these too and have to say I was delighted. Again, no dead pixels, great picture no ghosting that I've noticed (only play PES 6 and FM 2007). Also got myself I compro Digital TV card with it and couldnt be happier with the picture and viewing angles I'm getting.

Regarding the DVI cable, the manual says it should have one with it so I'd imagine if you wanted to hassle daewoo they'd probably send you one to shut you up. I just picked on up for £5 though.

I dont think 1440x900 is a standard windows resolution, does this mean everything has to be scaled/stretched or squashed?

How good is the monitor at scaling?

My viewSonic VX724 looks terrible in everything except native 1280x1024 resolution, but at least windows has 1280x1024 screen resolution option.

i dont think windows will show the resolution of 1400 x 900 unless you have a monitor that res plugged in. Although i have wondered this question aswell. there are so many 19in widescreens out there (even that come with the main system) i would have thought it works properly.

I tried mine on 1440x900 on Medieval 2: Total War (nil presumably?) and had to use the autofit/size (can't remember proper name) to stop it being over to the right and then it looked fantasticly brill!

Resolutions are defined by the graphics drivers, but any card modern enough to have DVI out will support it.

Just want to say thanks to Chris for posting the images of the monitor.

Im tempted to purchase one of these - think I may do so sometime this week - but am still on the look out. Can anyone suggest another monitor in the same size/price bracket to look at.

    Regards

just have to remember that its not a 24bit display - but won't matter unless your doing colour critical stuff

i was looking in to a 19" to take to Shoots with me to have a larger display than my laptops 14" to show parents what their kid looks like so they could choose the pic they wanted to have printed.. this looks like a nice display and not sure that the average joe-public could notice that a colour was off..
