    Warranty on seagate hard drive

I've just purchased a seagate momentus 100gb notebook hard drive, on the drive it says basically if anything goes wrong contact your system oem. I have checked on the seagate site and the warranty status is unknown.

Does this mean scan is my oem? How long is the warrany? I'm not too bothered it's just every hard drive i have purchased before (a fair few) has had an extended manufacturers warranty...

I have just checked with the returns department and they have stated it is 12 months return to Scan and then any extended warranty would be back to the manufacturer.

That's my point though, it appears there is no extended warranty with seagate, so basically the drive just has a 12 month warranty with yourselves....

im fairly sure that there is a warranty checker on the seagate site, and most of the drives have 5 year warranty across the seagate range. others give you 3 or 1 year.
