theres no point in doing that

just upgrade the motherboard , cpu, graphics and memory. They are the core of the system and will totally define its performance. Anything else is changing things for the sake of it, unless your unhappy with your current sound card or case etc..

I was playing with some specs yesterday and came up with this:

LN11326 SilverStone 'SUGO' Evolution SG01B Black Aluminium SFF Case £87.53
    LN15447 Asus P5LD2VM-DH/C, uATX £78.48
    LN15049 Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 £211.49
    LN16496 2Gb(2X1Gb) CorsairTwinX XMS2 Dominator £218.14
    LN16578 640Mb XFX 8800GTS PCI-E £364.11
    LN11461 250 Gb Samsung SP2504C SpinPoint P120 (x2) £100.72
    LN11321 480w Tagan TG480-U15 PSU £64.63

    Net Total £957.52
    Carriage £11.75
    V.A.T. £169.62
    TOTAL £1,138.89

    Small and powerful

I have 2 of those mobos with core 2 duos in and they are great, aswell as the samsung spinpoints, quiet and fast.

Can't comment on the Geforce, but XFX are excellent and the GTS is smaller / less power hungry but still packs one hell of punch

    Just my 2 pennies.

Go all out in the HD's then, 2 Raptors in RAID! Get those CAS4 Corsair ram sticks...

Now case and PSU i have no idea, its more up to you! Although the Silverstone (is it?) TJ 09 is nice!

Yea Raptors are nice, but the price difference doesn't justify the gain for me

    1x Raptor = £154/165
    2x Spinpoints RAID 0 = £100

Scale that up to 2 raptors and your talking about 300% the cost for a 5-10% gain? + losing 200Gb in space

Less you've got the spare cash, in which case, go nuts
