Asus P5B Deluxe Heat Issue?

hello alll

i got a small concer regarding my mobo heat issue,

the e6600 cpu is 51c and the Mb Chipset is 44c, is there anyway possible i can control the rpm of the cpu hsf to 1500 rpm rather than the measly 524 rpm thats doing.

I have the Arctic cooler Freezer and i know its quiet about 1500 rpm but when it gets to 2000 its bit noisy for me as nise is a bit of an issue for me.

I have seen a fair few posts from people about this already with the P5B. Apparantly the heat temps you are seeing are not really that high. I think if you use another program it will show you the correct temps are alot lower. Anyone else advise?

Turn off Qfan and check your temps with http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/392/mirrors.php

Asus boards tend to over read temps.

Chances are, if your chipset is too hot, that the northbridge heatsink isnt sat properly flat on the northbridge. this is because of the poorly made heatpipe setup and it just needs bending back until it sits flat. I have 2 of these boards and both of them arrived with the wonky heatsink.

44c's about right for a chipset. Not great, but not bad for stock.

I built a system for a friend with a P5b, temps read high for the cpu, but using core temp they were a lot lower than the motherboard was reporting.

I had 38 under load after reseating the heatsink and bending the heatpipe back slightly...i posted a pic of it a while back..here you go, its hardly ideal, especially if you want to add more voltage. Mine is watercooled now anyway

Clunk, as you are watercooling the chipset, what are you using for the vrms etc where the copper heatsink that the heatpipe went to used to sit?

You would think so, but I had a P5Wdh and that was even worse, I think that died as a result of it too.
