    Vista upgrade coupons

Many manufacturers are provideing a free (other than £15 shipping) upgrade from Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to Windows vista home premium when you buy a pc over the next few months.

I can't see anything about this on scans site. Are you not taking part in this MS promotion? or is it just not up yet?

I was planning to wait untill January for a new PC but now that direct x10 cards are out(or about to be) this vista coupon idea would quite possibly tempt me into a new PC later this month (or whenever the 8800GTX is availbile in decent quantity)

    Thanks

Yesterday there was a Vista voucher with Home and today I see that there's one with XP Pro.
I ordered XP Pro yesterday, order delayed awaiting CPU, so I wonder if I will get the voucher?

what version would you get if you had windows xp mce?

also how much would it cost to upgrade from windows xp basic?

Im wondering because ive just ordered a 3XS pc for my brother with Windows XP and am now wondering if it is worth changing it to windows mce to take advantage of this offer (a pc running mce can be used like a normal pc right?)

Thanks, I hoped I'd just missed it. I'd looked all around the 3xs section and not seen anything about it.

I get the impression that you can only upgrade from certain versions of windows to other certain versions?

ie the upgrade is from windows media center to vista home premium and windows professional upgrades to vista buisness.

Some of your pcs come with windows professional and don't let you chose windows media center.

Am I right with how I understand the the upgrade system to work and if so if I order a PC can I ring up and get them to use media center instead so that it upgrades to the version of vista that is most tailored to home use?

I take it that from that, MS won't let you upgrade to Ultimate from any version with a voucher?

Thanks as I thought, however some of your pcs, the new triad for instance only gives the option to choose windows professional. Since I think for most of us vista home premium is the best option there is a bit of a problem there.

Is that problem solvable by requesting media center edition on the pc even though that isn't an option on the online config options, or is it more of a tough luck wait till January if you want to buy that PC with vista home premium?

looks like M$ are creating a complete shambles with this "upgrade" system... not to mention their no-posty-benchmarky clause and hasitly withdraw no-instally-more'n'oncey clause in the EULA.

I guess when you are practically a monopoly you can do what you want

From the banner it seems if I build my own and get a copy of XP Pro (all from Scan), I wont get an upgrade coupon? Ho ho ho, what a crock of sheep

This gives you the upgrade paths, I assume similar logic applies to the upgrade path of coupons too (except for the ultimate which everyone will have to pay for)
