Hiper Type-R and Core2 Duo

Just seen this on the Hiperpower website:

3.HIPER Type R 580W series originally does not support Intel Pentium
Extreme Edition CPU (dual core) as it requires EPS12V (i.e. an 8 pin
ATX +12V connector).

That kinda scuppers my plan for using the Type-R 530W modular in my new Core2 Duo build doesn't it? What other ~500W (pref modular) PSu would you recommend for Core2Duo and a XFX9750 XXX - PSU calculator says I need about 420W so I added 100 extra for upgrades.

Was hoping for mot too much over £60 - the Seasonic 500W seems like the best but £90 is a bit over what I wanted to spend. How do you check if a PSU has the right connector for a Core2 duo mobo (getting the ASUS p5B Deluxe)

I would go for the Corsair 520w HX series modular stable and reliable. 5 Year Warranty too can't complain

How quiet is the Corsair?

I've been looking and reading for a couple of days and I'm going for the Corsair 620 in a real hi end major overclocked PC, that's how good I think the Corsair is.

Cheers Steve: This converter I mean: EPS12V (i.e. an 8 pin ATX +12V connector)? Sure the Hiper has enough juice to run it all, just dont want to play with converters on the main power connetor...

Check my system to see just how much one of those PSUs can run....and I haven't used the 8 pin connector, just the 4 pin.

The Corsair has some great reviews we have used this product and it is whisper quite as it discription mention. 520w or 620w products are available

The longer you wait trying to spec a system, the more you change everything! I've gone back and forwards on the GFX card, the ASUS P5W (the remote is a nifty idea but is i worth £20?) or the P5B mobo, CL4 or CL5 corsair RAM or OCZ... and now the PSU!

Sure I will be happy with whatever I get as they all seem like good parts. The reviews I have seen of the Corsair seem pretty good (ditto with the Hiper) - guess it will just be whatever is in stock when i sort out finances and order!
