Monitor problem

Hello. The monitor I bought from scan seems to have a few problems and I was wondering if it was normal.

Occasionally the backlights seems to flicker and it happens often enough to be noticed everyday. Its annoying to say the least but It may be due to my brightness being set to quite low, though it never happened on my old lcd before.
When the monitor is off it gives off an annoying squeling noise. It happens everytime the monitor is off and if I turn the monitor on + my pc isn't on. When my pc is on and there is a display on the monitor the noise stops, and everything seems to be normal.

The monitor I bought is an Asus MW221U and I've already submitted a support form to Asus themselves.

I really hope it can be fixed or else I will have to send it back for a replacement .
