    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Well that's just not true. In folding AMD cards are slower. In BOINC and Bitcoin nVidia cards are slower. It's all about the application.

Regarding the CPU, yes, it's just strange how AMD's...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Yup, no question about it: an overclocked SB i7 will waste a 1055T, even if it's at 4GHz. From the charts - up to more than twice as many PPD.

When it says SMP, it means it's not bigadv (those...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Actually, I might take a break from folding for a bit - I found a new use for bitcoins, so might get back to mining a bit.

I know I'm not using my GPU for folding, but I can't put the expenses of...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Oh and FYI, just checked, at stock voltage it's stable up to 3.6GHz (3.7GHz fails folding after a couple of minutes).

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Since it's second-hand (got it from a fellow folder for free), I know it's capable of 3.9GHz full whack; but that's obviously with a raised voltage. Trying with stock now - I only have the patience...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

I haven't overclocked it, I undervolted - it's running 3.4GHz at 1.264V; I've no clue what the stock voltage is.

EDIT: as I suspected, stock is 1.35V, so I'm running 0.086V lower. It gives a...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Well, since it's a Gigabyte MoBo, the BIOS is completely useless.

I use EasyTune and it's set that up to 48C the fan should run at 25% (apparently when it's lower it doesn't kick in at all), from...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Heh, when my CPU's not folding, the Mugen 2 keeps it at 40C passive (CPU fan stops completely). Nice :)

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Aaargh, I'm SO close to an X6 1100T (second hand, almost for half price of new)! I hope this one deal goes through, that'll see my PPD increase.

After I do part 3 of the undervolting adventure, of...

I'm just quietly chugging along :)

Checked with Gigabyte's own utility - my 120 mm fan is at 700 RPM, CPU fan - 900 RPM, 92s - 1200 RPM. I can barely hear it when I'm trying to sleep. Bliss...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Well, I would certainly be interested. I think shipping to Lithuania from the UK isn't that expensive - I've already had my X4 965 shipped to me from the UK, but I wasn't paying  The bigger...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Oh, my other fans are already at 7V - the 92's are spinning at 1200RPM (instead of 1500) and the 120 is spinning at what I'd guess to be around 700-800RPM (that header does not report the fan speed...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Folks, what do you think: is 47C for a Phenom II X4 965 okay with a Mugen II Rev. B?

My Katana III was doing 50C, although was far noisier - even though the Mugen is also spinning at its max RPM....

Yeah, I'm still reading around :)

I've already found a person from whom I might buy a Thermalright Genesis when I get back - that should cool my X4 pretty nicely. We'll see how that goes.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

No, I don't think so. Bitcoin is only on Radeon cards, which are useless for folding. And as I've found out, bitcoin doesn't lower the PPD at all. For several days I've tried running both, no...

Actually, you need 8 threads to do bigWU, but people just "choose" their number of threads running virtual Linux machines with Phenom II X6es.
