    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

For some reason I've dropped from 6k/day for 600/day on the old work beta server. I should probably stop folding on that, tbh: I haven't worked for that unit for almost 6 months... ;)

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Just looked at my stats and realised that the beta server for my old unit (the one I left 2 months ago) is still chugging away for the cause! ;)

Wonder how long I'll get away with it for...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Sadly it's not going to last much longer - my contract ends at the end of March and my boss has given no indication that he's going to offer me an extension, so I won't have control of that server...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

To be honest, I don't think either posit there is at all plausible - either Intel scrapping netburst / releasing Core 2 sooner, or AMD suddenly developing a killer chip in response.

    If Intel had a...

No, I know, just thought it was only fair on the main site to point out that they've made *some* moves to rememdy the situation!

Hard to argue with that - folding certainly isn't a high...

Hexus 560Ti 448 review includes a F@H benchmark, which it looks like Hexus intend to continue using for future GPU reviews. And of course, Hexus is unlikely to kick up its folding promotion if people...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Fair enough :) I still like my heavily undervolted Sempy 140 - drops to 0.768v at idle (vcore in the BIOS is 1.05v)! That's as low as my mobo will let me drop it...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

My Sempy 140 has a stock vcore of 1.35v, which drops to 1.05v at idle with C&Q enabled. My work Opteron (which is basically a Phenom II X4) runs 1.3v at stock, dropping to 1.0v. My Q6600 used to sit...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

What's the stock voltage on that? Assuming 1.35v stock, if you bumped the vcore to 1.45v I'd expect to see a (... quick calculations ...) 15% increase in power draw. You'll also get a linear increase...

AFAIK folding is FPU intensive, and despite all the architecture indications that BD should be good with heavy FP workloads, indication so far is that it isn't. I'm getting very confused about the...

On the other hand, 8 top end Xeon's will chew through more than a kilowatt between them - so about £3 per day in eletricity just for the processors! :o
