    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

There's no performance benefit moving from v6 to v7 because the SMP cores are the same for both clients.

As far as I know, the console on v7 is only available on Linux. Although, I think the...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Quick heads up; there is an NV beta WU (project 8057) going around which awards quick return bonuses, I've configured my folding client to fold beta WUs on my GTX670 and I'm getting 100k PPD from it....

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

The Arima kit has the right number of cores but it's not fast enough to crunch bigadv16 units. From what I've read, the Arima setup on regular SMP units is about as productive as a heavily...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Having moved back in with my parents, two things have changed; central heating is used sparingly and I no longer have to pay for my own electricity bills :D

So I've started folding again on my ITX...

I've got 4 pieces of coursework due in the next two weeks and haven't been doing much but work. Also money has dried up so my plans of a dedicated folder have been shelved. But on the bright side,...

It's pretty quiet, I can never hear it above any other fan.

This review shows the fan only ever ramps up at about 450W load, my system under full load hits 244W max.

I have a Silverstone SST-ST45SF 450W SFX (matx) power supply in my gaming rig, specs to the left. I've been running a 2 thread SMP and GPU client 24/7 for the last two weeks, no problems at all....

It's the time of year when it gets cold again!

Started the HD6870 folding, expecting some 4k PPD.

Also planning to build a heater/dedicated folder in the comming weeks if BDs are cheap enough.

Yeh, that's the 8400GS you sold me! I've taken the fan and tiny heat sink off and replaced it with something bigger that can run passively.

I'm doing Civil Engineering, Level 2 at the moment......

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Six core AMDs are slightly more tolerated as are quads with HT than plain quads for crunching bigadvs, both don't have 8 'proper' threads (I lack the vocabulary here). The reason for continuing to...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

One more thing, are you folding on that i5 rig in your sig? You can't get bigadv WUs on that I'm afraid, bigadv requires machines with 8 threads or more, e.g. i7 with HT or Dual Quad Xeon/Opteron.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Yeah, that's normal. I usually receive about 1 bigadv WU every 4 standard SMP WUs, sometimes I get bigadv after bigadv and other times I can go through 10 standard WUs before I get a bigadv.

    Also...

No BSODs here, i7 920 @ 3.8GHz (181*21 1.24v), up time of 16 days and have gone through 19 WUs (some bigadv) without a single EUE.

The p2685 bigadvs are nice, they take around 3 days and reward over 70k points a piece. I've had two consecutive p2685s which has bumped me up to 30kppd for the first time today.

I'm doing 15k ppd on a semi-dedicated SMP i7 920 @ 3.6GHz, rarely I get an A3 bigadv unit which would take around 3 days to complete but gives 60,000 points. Hence the big point spikes on the F@H...
