    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

I've not heard anything from the F@H developers though. But I have read what a few programmers have written and they seem to think VLIW should run F@H very well.

@Tattysnuc: It does seem there is...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

The 4+1 VRM on my motherboard gets a bit toasty when folding. I mean it should be fine as my 1055T is a 95W version. I'll try to get a few units in but I doubt it will be anything regular like the...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

If you fold for a passworded username without providing a password, firstly will it even let you DL a WU? And secondly, do the points add on just the same?

If checkpoints are on, you could quit then run it again with the flag. Depending on how far apart your checkpoints are though, you might lose a fair bit of time.

    Well done everyone!

I think I said this a while ago, must have misinterpreted someone's post and didn't check the score myself.

The update was probably Win7 SP1 if you're running 7. It doesn't explain why it rebooted though, mine didn't but I have mine set to check but manually download/install.

That seems about what I'd get with my very rough estimate of 1 24/7 watt = £1 per year.

Whaaaaa? Improved ATI performance? It's taken them long enough!
Going by some GPGPU (OpenCL) apps and other stuff I've read, including the raw floating-point performance, ATI cards should be...

Hmm, from what I recall it didn't used to have anything built in. Either that or it had a nasty American-English dictionary so kept saying correct spellings were wrong.

    The WUs I've been getting...

    RAID ain't backup!

For something that size you could use rsync to external drives, that's what I do and it's really quick if the contents doesn't change much between backups.

    Edit: Sorry, I...

For folding, Nvidia are the only cards really worth folding on ATM. The PPD/Watt value is much better on them. I mean that might (hopefully) change soon, it's nothing to do with AMD cards being...

I don't think cats like me either, dogs are normally warm and welcoming. Cats just stare and try to get sly scratches in. Also dogs crap in their own garden and stay on the floor! xD

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Hey that's not a bad rig. Someone more in the know may correct me but I don't think it's really worth folding on a 4890, the ATI client isn't great for some reason so they end up very inefficient at...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Why not just give more points to start with with SMP? It is a scheme to get people to fold at least 10 WUs or something?

Oh yeah I thought it was just 10 WU, not specifically 10 SMP WU. It's just I don't fold 24/7 and not every day and this first 10 are a PITA to chew through especially if I get any more 2M step WU...

Could I not just set the machine ID the same as it would still be on the same system i.e. I couldn't fold on both simultaneously by mistake.
