Actually, I used to buy a few things from them up until the point where I had to RMA something and they told me to speak to the manufacturer, so on that basis, I reckon their repeat business won't be bad until something goes wrong.

    Cheers,

That the thing about OcUK, until stuff goes wrong they are great, their prices are slightly cheaper than many, their delivery is cheap and fairly quick, and they have a good selection.

I remember a few years ago, I used to always go to OcUK first. Some people recommended scan but I did not use them because they where always a few quid more expensive, and the £10 delivery charge stung on small orders. Anyway then I had endless trouble sorting out an order, and not being able to get anyone on the phone, and a friend of mine lost about £150 when they refused to refund him for some faulty stuff he brought from them, so I vowed never to use them again.

On the other hand, those people who have not yet been unlucky, probably still think that OcUK are a great shop to buy from.

I understand the people saying they've had problems with OCUK, but from my own experience they've been very good with RMAs. I've had to RMA a motherboard and more recently a graphics card. The motherboard was replaced within days, although this was about 2 years ago. The recent graphics card return took a bit longer, but they replaced it with a better model than the faulty one.

Fair enough if people have had problems with OCUK they can voice their opinions, but I do get a little sick of every thread with OCUK bargains being brought down by complaints, although thankfully this doesn't happen too often any more. I'd happily buy from them again as they do have good deals sometimes.

I got a ban from there forums once for saying you can buy from a shop other then OCUK. Personally though I just order from wherever is the cheapest, in my 5 years or so of buying PC bit & bobs I have only ever had to RMA one thing & that was with MOBO with Ebuyer which was very quick & easy.

I got banned for even mentioning the fact that other etailers exist, not even for implying that they were cheaper or better just purely for uttering the name of a competitor. Waaaay too far up their own asses those guys, way too far.

I havent had a problem with OcUk- There delivery service has always turned up with the goods when they said it would.
However Scan havent always got my goods to me ontime, my last big order took an extra 3 days but i cant moan the postage was free and it saved me £20.

I have used scans returns and there customer service hasnt answered my questions within 20 minutes and this is why i will continue to use Scan - They care about customers.

I mean, currently in the software section, there's a guy asking how to stop some pop-ups...
You do realise it's called OcUK because they sold pre-overclocked processors in the old days and are obviously a UK based company.

It's an open to all forum, there is no need to have a certain level of knowledge of computers, let alone overclocking.

You get different levels of questions over at XtremeSytems, some of the most knowledgeable people in the World post there as well - so go figure.

Personally, I don't mind OcUK forums. If you start a thread, it's full of replies within 30 mins. Great if you're stumped on something and want others opinions. As for mods and dons etc, I don't get involved. Rules are rules, I'm there as a free member and because of that, I don't get the right to question those rules.

It's never put me off posting and I've never found it hard to stick to the rules.

If anything, people here are a bit silly for trying to slander the forums when the thread is to do with the retail shop and their services.

mate if you look at the amount of people they have banned its untrue.

fair enough there is rules as are with all forums, but to ban someone like the guy above about mentioning over e-tailers is ridiculous.

"You get different levels of questions over at XtremeSytems, some of the most knowledgeable people in the World post there as well - so go figure."

what are you trying to get at with this statement?

no one here is trying to slander there forums, however it was mentioned because it reflects ocUK as a whole.

i have in the past ordered from there and they are good, fast delivery, no hassle. however as already mentioned, as soon as something goes wrong you find you're self in a bit of a predicament.

i am an admin on a certain forum and we have had people join up to just to rant about there delivery's/service etc. and instead of banning there account, which any monkey could do, we always aim to sort there problem out. even though like ocuk the forum has nothing to do with the main site (in terms of sales)

I couldn't really care less how many people they have banned, it really has nothing to do with me and I don't see why anyone cares what they do with their forums. As I've said, I find the member base real good there, a lot of people know what they are talking about and people always fill threads with advice.

Maybe thats why I'm not banned? Instead of treating it like some sort of Internet forum soap opera, I just get on with posting in the hardware side of things. As for mentioning other E-Tailors, it's against the rules, I see no need to even mention other e-tailors. I can quite happily discuss the pros and cons to a product without feeling the need to even mention where you can buy one from.

If people can't use their nogins and use google for themselves to find deals, then that is their fault. There are plenty of forums out there where discussion of bargains from different e-tailors is allowed. So people should just browse those forums. Hexus do it, and so do ChilledPC - two forums I am members of. So there really is no point in trying it on at OcUK, when you know it's against the rules and the information is available elsewhere where you can't get banned.

With the XtremeSystems statement, I'm saying there is a broad level of experience there. From those who are new to overclocking, phase, water - to people who can do those things with their eyes closed. XtremeSystems has never been a place for those who LN2 and DICE cool, so the person I quoted before is very much in the wrong for slating OcUK forums because someone asks a silly question, it isn't just a forum for overclockers and it never was. There are people in General Discussion who don't know how to build computers.

I'm sure there are questions asked on Hexus which I believe to have simple answers, but a forum is a forum and it's free for people of different ability levels to sign up and ask questions. So this_is_gav's comments towards OcUKs boards is unjustified.

Yes, you're an admin on your forums. OcUK forums are OcUK's forums. Nothing is going to come of slating their forums and policies elsewhere such as on this forum.

Guys, I am not going to say this again.
This is a forum for comments on retailers. If you have an issue with their forums, take it up with them.

Any more comments on their forums will be removed. People who don't listen and carry on moaning about how they run their forums run the risk of having their access to the Bargain/For Sale forums removed.

I am not joking about this guys. Don't like their forums? Don't go there, problem solved.

    Re: Grr @ Overclockers.co.uk

You didn't come over as threatening at all mate

Back to the shop itself, I've never had to RMA a product so I can't comment but from general reading it does seem that is where the problem lies with OcUK.

I think every e-tailor has its weaker points, Scan seems to be slow on getting orders out of the door but seem good (bar a few stories on here) at sorting problems out. Looks like OcUK have a large amount of staff picking (educated guess at their ability to dispatch orders in a timely fashion) where as Scan has more bodies behind customer support such as returns.
