I can't remember the details as it was years ago, but we decided these lot could take a hike too. I think it was to do with those little Shuttle shoebox PCs that were popular back in the day, we had a couple and one of them was faulty (or might've been one of the components... can't remember that long ago!).

All I can remember is they were extremely difficult and snotty about it, and when they finally looked at it (which took weeks) they claimed it was fine and - a blatant lie of course, we're not stupid - and demanded a testing fee. Took threatening them with Trading Standards to get things sorted, haven't bought from there since... sounds like there hasn't been any improvement over the years they've had to do so.

I've ended up ebaying 2 lots of memory which errored on memtest but which ocuk would not take back, saying it was not faulty. I ended up losing over £50. I vowed then to not use them again, whatever the price they had.

With them every time you rma something and they dont find fault they charge you £10+vat+return postage (which in my case was more expensive than the original postage)

I've never had a problem with OcUK, haven't bought much from them admitidly, but when I have always delivery when it should be. As for Ebuyer, had loads of problems with them, faulty goods, naff delivery etc.

As for the forums, as they are nothing to do with the shop other than one of the guys there runs it off his own back I don't see why people have a problem with it/them. The reason there is no shop talk is simply because it isn't to do with the shop and they want all shop stuff to be dealt with via the proper means. Some of the members are also people that work at OcUK, and they post on there because they have some free time, the offers posted up are because the people are being nice and posting them up.

I have no problem with people's attitudes, there are bugger all 'holier than thou' people on there. Saying that and saying that 'for an overclockers forum its crap 'cause someone asked xx question'. This loops back to the forum being run by the shop guy, due to it being linked by him it has the same name, doesn't mean that everyone on there is/has to be a hardcore overclocker.

I know for a fact oneof them has just bot his brand new porsche in the last month, pull the ladder up jack and sod the rest.

If they are nothing to do with the shop then they should

    A) Not be a subdomain of the shop i.e forums.overclockers.co.uk. The very nature of this URL suggests that the forums ARE part of OcUK. It is like saying that forums.hexus.net is not part of hexus.net.

    B) Not have a link to it via the shop.

    C) Not have in any way branding that associates it with the shop.

C.1) Remove the "Welcome to the Overclockers UK Forums." .

    D) If it isn't to do with the shop, then what is the problem in talking about the shop?

The fact is the people who run it don't seem to be able to accept any criticism that comes their way, in regard to the shop. If its nothing to do with the shop then they should be hosted and run completely separately. Any company that cannot take or handle bad press publicly is NOT a company worth dealing with as I have said somewhere before.

A lot of the people over there are really sucking up to the staff, or frightened to say the wrong thing.

As for the forum being nothing to do with the shop, well that is utter garbage, they are always pimping their stuff on there, quite often misleadingly too.

The fact that you havent bought much, would probably mean that you havent had much in the way of an RMA, and as most people have already pointed out, its when the RMA problems start, that overclockers simply shut the shutters and ignore you.

What! Are you serious? No "Dons" exist here the last time I checked. You can't get "higher and mightier" than them. Plus there is nothing higher and mightier than allowing someone to paint a nice rosy picture of the shop, but then quickly and quietly ban someone if they utter something even slightly bad about the shop.

I got banned for questioning the Ethics of one of the Mods

I still shop there TBH, but only for small items that would hardly need to be returned so I can use the RMSD option to gte items here in a hurry.

I love Scan, but they delivery time scale for me always seem to be 3days away min
I sometimes drive to CCL (60mls) if I need items in a hurry that scan can't deliver.
And for my crimes have used Ebuyer now and then - luckily with no problems. One thing that does stick in my mind was a retail box conroe that I RMA'd to ebuyer with a crushed core (my doing), they still approved the RMA even though I told them I had crushed it.

OCUK _ order at your own peril, use the forums for the trade sections and skip everything else.

To be fair mate if it's not to do with the shop then why does its' head sales honcho Gibbo use it to openly advertise and promote sales? Not really getting involved here, but it's just a thought.
