    Ebuyer pricing

    Anybody else noted the almost seemingly constant price changing going on at the minute at ebuyer?

    They run 3 or 4 warehouses and their prices are live and fluctuate with the exchange rates. Bottom line - if you see a bargain - grab it.

    Ah the joys of Just In Time deliveries, virtual warehousing, electronic data interchange between supplier and retailer and real time stock systems

    Here's and explanation. Ebuyer have a batch of OCZ ram they are selling at £70.03 because they buy it at one price and apply a standard markup for that item. Then then get a bargain batch (of 100 as an example) in that can be sold at £51.80 with the same standard markup applied. So the real time stock and pricing software changes the website price to £51.80 until 100 items have been old. The price then reverts automatically to the next best price they can offer without loosing money.

    When you consider the quantities that Ebuyer are dealing with, along with constant replenishing of stocks and acquiring stock from multiple distributors, pricing can quite easily change on a regular basis.
