Question Big City Digital - trustworthy?

    Hi,
Has anyone here used the digital camera store BigCityDigital.co.uk before?

I paid them for a camera last month through google checkout, this was on a Friday, they took the cash on the Monday, and later that day called me to say that the camera was not in stock, and I would be refunded.

I emailed them a few days later when nothing had come in to my account, to no avail. So have tried calling them several times but it either rings off or is engaged.

I have emailed them a strongly worded letter, as it is now over 2 weeks since my order.

    Anyone got any experience/thoughts?
    Thanks,
    M0nkey

Check their terms and conditions regarding refunds and if they are over the time to which they have to refund you then take appropiate action.

Re: Big City Digital - trustworthy?

Just to clear this up - Big City Digital have refunded my purchase and apologised for the delay (although they didn't provide a reason for the delay).

This was obviously avoidable, but it's not the sort of thing that puts me off a company for good.

Re: Big City Digital - trustworthy?

I regret I have had a similar experience with Big City Digital.

It took almost a month to resolve a problem with the camera they supplied. Emails went unanswered and their phone line was constantly engaged. Further delay was caused when they took a week to collect my returned camera from the Royal Mail.

They were not able to replace it so eventually awarded me a refund. I have neither the time nor patience to deal with them again.

I was worried when I saw the posts on here but my experience was good. ordered at 1700 Tuesady, delivered Thursday. Had a query re courier so phoned them and got an instant reply. it would help if they gave u a courier ref number to track, otherwise good service at a good price

I'm having similar problems. Did anyone ever manage to speak to somebody from this company?

Re: Big City Digital - trustworthy?

Never buy from them, they are really really....* bad
I bought a panasonic camera which turned out faulty, spoke to someone called Ashley , and the guy its is the 'LAW' to return the item in 7 days for replcament, this was during Christmas holidays mind you....and I can only get it repaired...so I posted the camera back and checked the parcel status online which said they collected the item.
Now its been 1 month with no response from them either via email which I sent them many...oh did I say why I emailed them...because the number on the website does not work, it rings but nobody picks up...ever.....
so please do yourself a favour and give them a miss.....there are some forums here which says they are good but I guess its there propaganda...I fell for that ...was too late for me as I found this thread long after I got served....have sent them another mail...if not replied to then thinking of lodging a comlaint with consumer forum....hope this helps.....

Re: Big City Digital - trustworthy?

    NEVER USE BIG CITY DIGITAL.

    Reasons why :

    1. They took my money
    2. They never delivered my product (and still havent)
    3. They dont answer their phone, 9 times i have called them.
    4. They do not reply to emails, 6 emails sent.

I am now on the 6th day of waiting and still have not recieved my camera, i have logged this with Google Checkout who they use for transactions and are loooking into the company. I have also informed my bank fof possible Fraud.

I am now going to waste my time and inform every forum comment who have asked about BIGCITYDIGITAL.

I am also going to pay them a visit in London when i am down there next week. They may have a bit of a shock when i get there.

Feel a bit better now but still cameraless!!!

    Nick

No, not trustworthy at all! Avoid Big City Digital! Their sales technique was great - informative and helpful. But if anything goes wrong, they just don't want to know.

I returned my faulty Panasonic camera to them, a week within its two year warrantee. It was sent registered delivery, as advised by the website. But I've never had a response. The phone rings out and emails aren't responded to. They've even ignored a letter from my solicitor! The problem is, it'll cost more to start a case in the Small Claims Court than I ever spent on the camera.

Like Nick, I am now camera-less, have spent £300-odd with them and lost a fiver posting the camera back to them. Moreover, I stupidly left the battery in the camera too (£40 to replace).

I have contacted BBC's Watchdog and Rogue Traders. If enough others do the same, maybe they'll investigate. And, I too am planning a visit to North London.

I have also contacted Panasonic UK who are aware of Big City Digital. Apparently they sell American goods which is where the problem lies.......

Oh, and I've started a Facebook Group called 'Big City Digital are criminals!'. Join up and spread the word. At the very least it might pee them off!!

If you used a credit card, have you tried getting the money back through the credit card company?

I used a debit card - and have now learnt a lesson to always use a credit card! Thanks for the suggestion though.

Big City Digital's server has now disappeared. That doesn't help me, but it'll stop anyone else being ripped off by these cowboys!
