    Where to sell a phone?

O.k. I've won a phone it's better than the phone I've currently got but I don't use the features (I make calls and send messages on my phone but it can do so much more...)

I'm asking my friends if they will cross my palms with silver for it, but where else could I sell it - I've never used ebay and don't like the idea of using it (I think I'll get ripped off).

    thanks

AVForums allow phone sales - however, we do not . So anyone who thinks about PM'ing the user over this, or leaving a message asking for a PM about it, please don't (I've already removed some). The rules still apply - strictly no phone sales at all on HEXUS guys, sorry!

I'll confirm I'm not looking to sell it here (that why I didn't post the model) so don't PM me please

Agent if I get you access to my work email account will you get rid of all the unwanted emails there as well, there mostly from work colleagues - wanting me to do work, speaking of which ...

I know you were not, the post wasn't aimed at you in any way
Work emails? I'm not sure what you're on about? The only thing that's been removed was replies in this thread who were interested in buying which is strictly against the rules, nothing more

If you have any concerns drop me a PM buddy

Re: Where to sell a phone?

E bay is a possibility - but apart from the gamble of not knowing what you will get for it - you need to be VERY careful about shysters - mobile phones are a lucrative target for them.

Preferably don't accept Paypal for the transaction - the buyer can claim non receipt after getting the phone, and then get a chargeback on your account. Paypal does give guidance on protecting seelers against that, but there have been cases on Hexus where Paypal have refunded the purchase, and not answered questions afterwards.

So if you can't use Paypal - insist on a cheque. That in itself will put off the shyster - and of course when you get the cheque, ensure the funds are irrevocably cleared before you despatch the item - if necessary, pay extra for specail clearing.

When you do send off the item, use recorded or registerd delivery - or use a courier, but check their terms and conditions very carefully before you use them, particularly in respect of delivery to other than the addressee. Be particularly wary of Box numbers, overseas addresses and a check on the post code to see if it is a legit private address is worthwhile. And finally, don't ignore the feedback on the buyer from other sellers.

Ebay with "collection only" is usually a safe bet. Cash in hand when they collect - thats what Ive done anyway

Re: Where to sell a phone?

Envirofone...google it. Dunno why link dont show.

This place buys phones. But the prices are exactly great. I personally would list it on egay, accept only Postal order, BACS or cheque.
If your worried about the amount it goes for, i'll put it on a buy-it-now or reserve price auction.

Thanks for the suggestions, I gave it away in the end ... and sods law I could do with the money now and most people tell me I would have got at least 200 may be up to 250 for it. I'm trying to convince myself about the following:
    swings and roundabouts
    what goes around comes around

and a few people have been quoting a line from Forrest Gump at me...

Too many dodgy Nigerians...selling phones on the 'bay is a flippin' nightmare!. As mentioned, avforums has its own section but requires you too be only selling on there iirc...tried the dvdforums at all?.

CEX buy mobile phones, but you'd have to see if they offer a decent price.

Walk around those streets on your own and some one will take it off your hands.

    Tottenham Court Road???

Probably won't get the best price but they will take it off your hands. Can't remember the exact name of the place but it does all manner of 2nd hand goods for phones and Pcs.
