    External Hard-Drive

    Hi,

I'm looking to buy a fairly small external HD (travel size) with the a fairly good capacity (160GBish) for backing up work and taking it to and from uni.

    Does anybody have any recommendations?

    Cheers.

Buy a 2.5 inch Laptop hard drive and put it into a 2.5 inch caddie. Easy to do.

KoolPC's way (which is slightly cheaper, by about £5) or HERE you may be able to find that even cheaper if you shop around. (the passport runs totally off USB power)

or a 3.5" solution HERE which is cheaper and has a higher capicity... but it is bigger...

    I agree with Koolpc's recommendation for a 2.5" drive, and a 2.5" external enclosure

But when you're looking for specific product recommendations... there are just so many different options available, that you need to let us know your maximum budget

    Re: External Hard-Drive

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Taktak's suggestion of the western digital passport seems very nice, that's just the kind of thing I'm looking for really. Making one myself seems like a little too much hassle to not really make a saving.

My budget is about £40. I'm just looking for something really simple and reliable.

    Re: External Hard-Drive

Amazon have a 120gb one on offer right now, I don't have enough posts to posts the link but if you search 'Seagate FreeAgent Go 120GB Hard Drive' you'll see it.

I know you said 160gig-ish but it might be worth a look since it's only £34.99 delivered

Cheers Eden. I went for the Seagate in the end; it looks really nice and had good reviews.

    Cheers all!

I will also go and have look as well.

Besides, I also wonder what chipset they use inside the case.

Which "case" are you referring to?
