    Cheapest 23/24" monitor with usb/hdmi

As per title really. Seen this

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/174175#

and it seems like a good bargain. I need hdmi/usb as I already am using one dvi for my computer and one for my projector. I know I wont be able to run all three at once which is fine I'll only ever need 2 at a time.

    Any advice?

I must admit I'm a little confused. You can't run a monitor via USB. When some monitors mention USB it is because they have an integrated USB hub. I gather you are already running two DVI outputs, but you haven't stated what other outputs your graphics card has? In any case, the monitor you link to from ebuyer doesn't seem to have an HDMI input which I gather from your thread title is one of your requirements.

I have seen a couple of monitors that run on usb before and this has no mention of a usb hub so I assumed this was another example. Come to think of it the usb ones were quite expensive.

My graphics card has 1 dvi 1 d-sub and 1 hdmi. I am already using the dvi and d-sub. Can you get a hdmi to dvi cable? I know you can get a dvi to hdmi but I dont know if it works both ways?

I've never heard of a monitor running off usb - and I don't believe the interface is even fast enough. If you have any links to monitors that run off usb I'd be fascinated to see them. Have you ever seen a graphics card with a USB output?

When monitor specs mention USB they usually just mean a usb hub or pass through to extend the range.

No USB out on your graphics card, so forget USB. Yes, HDMI to DVI cables are very common. I haven't shopped around, this is just the first one I came across as an example:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/2m-Sc...28CDLDV-302%29

They essentially just ignore the HDMI digital audio signal and pass the digital video signal through which is compatible.

I cant currently find any but I know eubyer were selling a samsung one. I guess it just has an inbuilt one of these http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152255. It was like this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/MIMO-...-Display-Black but a full sized one.

In that case I'll just buy a dvi monitor and a hdmi to dvi cable and that will do the job?

    USB monitor

USB 2 is fast enough to drive a reasonably sized monitor.

There are also USB graphics cards. They're a bit slow but do the job.

Ah, okay, I see, but, it's not really a normal monitor if it's got a built in graphics card. A monitor with a build in tuner is called a TV. Perhaps this should have a special name of its own - any suggestions

That should be fine. Just check to make sure that your graphics card supports output from its HDMI port at your monitors native resolution (or you current DVI monitor's native resolution). You really don't want your monitor doing any scalling, and many graphics cards have a more limited range of output resolutions from their HDMI ports.
