    TV prices at Curry's/Dixon's

now as these are both owned buy the same company dsg international i thought they whould have the same products for the same sort of price.

    well they don't.

    Samsung UE55B7000 55 1080p Curry's price £2,499.00

    Samsung UE55B7000 55 1080p Dixon's price £1,998.99

as you can see that's a massive saving. now as my mum is looking for a new TV and wants to see it before she buys it and Curry's is the closest to us what is the chance they whould match Dixon's prices on there tvs.?

cos if i bought one online it whould come from the same distribution warehouse anyway.

    Re: TV prices at Curry's/Dixon's

Reason for the price difference is quite simple - cost.

Person A buys through a website - ok, the website has a cost to maintain, but the product is shipped from a warehouse they are already paying for, by a delivery system they already have in place. Cost is minimal.

Person B buys from a shop - this has to be staffed, maintained, powered etc, and has to run the risks that a retail outlet has to bear (theft, damage to stock etc). Cost is reasonably high.

So, is there a £500 difference on that particular television? No, more than likely not, but for every TV that is wildly different, you will find 4 or more items that are exactly the same price...

As to a pricematch? I wouldn't rule it out, but I believe it is part of their price promise that it has to be a retail store within xx miles of the store, so more than likely they are quite within their rights to refuse to pricematch websites. As to whether they will do a deal, that is entirely up to the store management I would imagine - some will, some won't.

    Re: TV prices at Curry's/Dixon's

I once tried to get Currys to price match PC World and was told they couldn't do that because they're the same company.

I don't think I've ever had a successful price match from Currys or PC World.

so basically it costs more to run Curry's retail outlets than Dixon's as i can get that tv in store for the above price in both stores cash.

ain't no cheaper if i buy it on line or go get it.

Ive not been in to town for years and your right its no longer there and its currys digital now.

I'm still going to get them to match the price of dixons on whatever she picks tho or ill just order it from them.

They'll only price match the website price + delivery.... or at least should, it was when I worked there.
Has to be in stock as well for delivery, done it where I have been in the shop when I have reserved online on my phone to save money though

Also price matching shows up as discounts given, which in the sales any non pre-authorised discount (such as a competitive price match) is a big no-no

The silly thing with Dixons and Pixmania online is that with some stuff it will actually come from/be delivered by your local Currys!
