Is it a fairly straightforward process? I am looking for a straightforward alternative to Ebay for selling off my phone, and they are quite competitive to other mobile phone buyers (surprised there are so many sites these days!).

Don't do it online, loads of bad tales regarding them, just google.
As for in store, they do give good prices but very often don't have any cash in store, you need to not assume you'll get to sell it the first time you take it in!
Ooh, I was actually going to do it online. Do they tend to offer the same price in store as they do online?
The prices; buy, sell, cash or exchange, are the same in store as they are online.
I've sold countless items to CeX online, if nothing goes wrong - it's a painless process; find items for sale on CeX web site, go through check out, load items in to box, post and wait for payment.
That's not to say CeX is faultless, I've heard many horror stories about items that never arrive, non existing customer services, bouncing cheques, any thing that can go wrong really. So send your stuff via recorded post and opt for Paypal payment. I've never had a problem my self except sending items and have them downgraded in price due to their condition without my consent, although in all cases I was probably too ambitious over the price I'd set for the item's condition.
I would say it varies per store, i've never had a problem with them not having cash available, not matter what time or day, sold countless items to them, going between car boot and CEX to make a quick profit on games.
The only issue i had recently is taking a game in and being told they would only purchase it if it was sealed, i check on the website first and it didn't state it on the site, so it was a bit of a wasted journey.
I`ve never had any problems with them nor has anyone I know.
THing is you`ll find bad feedback about anywhere as people are more likely toc omplain than praise
They're fine as long as you know what prices to expect and don't mind waiting around for an hour or two while the dolt on the tills checks that the thing works.
If you're selling console stuff then may be better to find out what CeX would buy it for then head to Gamestation and they'll beat it by a quid. I got rid of an old Xbox, PS2 and DS that way and was at the tills for 5 mins rather than an hour at CeX
if you do go instore its best to go in the morning first thing, cos I've once went to sell a few games but was turned away because they had no cash
I've sold quite few phones to Cex in store and service is good, drop it in for testing and come back later.
Then they'll tell you how they've graded it and how much they'll give.
From my own experience, I didn't sell my last phone to them as they valued my phone the same as some other online phone recyclers but they are far more picky. Your phone pretty much has to look brand new boxed with original accessories and manual to achieve the full amount.
At an online recycler you only send them the phone and it only has to turn on to collect.
I recommend going early too, to avoid queues of people selling stuff.
When it comes to phones, try this place: http://mobilevaluer.com/
It compares a variety of prices from people like Mazuma, Envirofone (personally I use Love2Recycle a lot, prices are good and they're very efficient). Nice thing as well is that they aren't fussy - if it works, that's perfectly adequate. And you don't need to send things like SD cards, you can keep them yourself. It's basically phone + battery, and as long as it turns on, you're good to go. And if not, they'll offer you a price for non-working. That happened to me once with a 6 year old 3310
Based on a quick check, you'll sometimes get more than Cex.

Nice sharing...
I refused a delivery from them over a week ago and I'm still waiting for any response in regards to getting my money back, if there selling option is as bad as buying online then I would stay clear. They lie about postage dates and who they are shipping with too.
They are offering paypal money aswell now,so if you are going sell it to there website you can go for the paypal option to recieve money.
I have been through there selling system once and it worked out pretty well for me but i requested them to send me a envelope and sticker for free postage which took nearlly a week.
But it all went well at the end and i recieved my exchange in a giant printed paper lol.
In my experience it depends on how much you are expecting them to pay you.
I tried selling my iphone to them 4 times, but they never had the cash. They were offering £300 for it at the time, but could only ever offer me credit..which I didn't want as they are horrendously overpriced when it comes to buying.
For games/low value (under £100) items they are perfectly fine, always had the cash..and they often pay over the odds, but for high value items i'd advise to look elsewhere.
