    GTX460 1GB Search

I'm looking for a 1gb GTX460 but am unsure on which makes/models are the best to get really. I don't want to pay top end for it so anything around the £170 is good, just want one that's cool/quiet more than anything really.

    Found this:
    http://www.lambda-tek.com/components...prodID=B471988

But dunno how good they are? The dual fans make it seem like it might be a bit noisy.

Good choice, the Gigabytes are getting a lot of good comments at the moment - well built, overclock very well and the dual fan design not only cools the card better than the stock solution it is also very quiet apparently. Got a 3yr warranty too, most of the others are only 2.

Good price too at Lambda, I haven't really seen it any cheaper elsewhere, although obviously there's the postage to add on I suppose.

    Re: GTX460 1GB Search

Postage is £7.50 :/ with no cheaper option besides collect which is still £2. Makes it same price as Scan effectively then. Grr, stupid postage Scan has a 2 year warranty.

    Re: GTX460 1GB Search

Just seen this - good make, few quid less:

    http://www.it247.com/product/1/GAICA...426018336-1145

Or perhaps wait a day or so and see if Scan put the Gigabyte on Today Only?

[edit] Just seen the Gainward is only 768 version, although annoyingly it showed up as 1gb in the search. Apologies if I got you excited!

768MB model though. Mm, I'll keep an eye out on today only. Just annoying there's no notify option

I'm in no hurry, need to sell the 8800 first really.

I have 2 of those palit ones in my rig Adamanubis DO NOT BUY!!! the fans are whiney and horrible i seriously need to consider selling them and changing to the gigabyte's or buying aftermarket coolers.

If you want quiet go for the gigabyte or the msi cyclone cards.

If that was the case then the EVGA would be a better choice?

It may juts be that my ears are oversensitive but i am not happy with the noise i have an ultra quiet pc everything below 21dba and these cards ruin that. i am seriously considering selling mine for some quiet ones.

Thanks I had considered it but really taken with the Gigabytes atm, I'm just waiting to see if they're in the scan Todayonly any time soon and if I can sell my current somewhere (starting with friends atm). I've only recently realised how loud my GTX is, I always used to think it was my other fans :/ (Baring in mind they're sharkoon silent Eagles so shouldn't be ).

Once I know I've got the money then I shall order one and maybe even take some pics

    Re: GTX460 1GB Search

Ooh that's tempting. The Gigabyte is on the Scan Today only deal. It's only £2 cheaper though. What do I do hexus? Well it's too late. I've ordered. Shall be posting pics when it arrives.

He he, knew you'd give in eventually. Better get your old card on the Bay whilst you can still get a few quid.

Let us know how it shapes up.

Odd, I have one of the Palit GTX 460s and find it unusually (and pleasantly) quiet, even under full load, and that's in my newly built system which is otherwise quiet as a mouse (SSD boot drive, WD Green storage drive, stock Intel cooler in a Coolermaster CM690 case)
