GFX card
Looking for a new AGP card, got about £300-£400 to spend, dont know much about this sort of thing but from looking at some benchmarks etc, kinda narrowed down to
Connect3D Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition
or
XFX GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB DDR3/AGP/DVI/TV-OUT
Any thoughts?

Better off getting a Geforce 7xxx series if there is one.
-
Well there is no AGP 78XX card but I would reccomend a x800GTO2: its cheap and clocks up to x850xt speeds :)
-
Could you not just get a new PCI-E mobo for £100 then a 7800 for the rest of the money. Easily do able and would leave you with further space to upgrade in the future.
-
SCAN have got a xfx7800GT 256mb PCI-E for £245! you could also get a ASUS a8n SLI Premium for like £112.
and blinky btw some hexus admin is going to shoot you when they see your sig mate
-
Nowt wrong with that sig. It's required for DFI Street :devilish:
I'm still not sure if they is an AGP 7800
-
If you really want to go the AGP route like i did, then get the XFX6800GT card instead of the Ultra as they will clock higher than the ultra's with very little if any at all heat gain and its cheaper by a bucket load :)
hehe and that sig will be cut to shreds by the admins, you are allowed a max size of 130px in height which is about the size of the sig Ramedge has.
-
Mr Mod tells me its 100px
EDIT: nope its gone down to 80px
btw i still think a 7800GT for £245 would do the job ;)
-
Komplett have a 6800GT AGP card for £180 + delivery. I would check that out.
-
7800gt going for about the same price?
-
Most powerfull AGP card on the market is the ATI X850XT PE and it could be easily had within your budget. Although as the others said you may be aswell upgrading to PCI-E
-
Yea upgrading to PCI-E would be the path I'd chose, but I don't know the spec of the rest of the components, so I reserve my much defended right to sit on the fence :P The x850 would probably be your best bet if your staying AGP and want to spend your full budget.
