SLI or Crossfire Mobo, HELP MEEEE!! lol

Hi, ive been waiting for months for crossfire to be released, and now its here... im not particularly overawed, so this is my problem, do i go for an nforce4 motherboard and SLI with 2x 7800GTX 512's or get a Crossfire Motherboard and wait to see what ATI come up with (with the underlining fear that NVIDIA are ready for them already and are just waiting to knock them off the top in less than a week again). Also the big problem is availability of Crossfire master cards... Any suggestions on motherboards? I have an FX-55 to put in it, and 4GB OCZ Platinum memory, which was one reason i was liking the look of the DFI Crossfire board as you can have 4 modules at 1T command rate, ive heard the DFI SLI board is good as well... im so lost, lol, its really annoying i want a motherboard so i can start wiring everything up and cutting the cables down to size. Any suggestions where to buy from as well, so far i have bought from Scan, Ebuyer, Microdirect, KustomPC's and TechFever

    PLEASE HELP ME!!! lol

Im thinking you may be right.. =/ btw i notice u have a black Tt Armour, i have a silver one... cept it will probably never be used now, i was going to use it for this rig, but bought a Tt Tai Chi as well which im gonna use now, i also have a Tagan 480w but dont think its going to be powerful enough not for 4GB memory, FX-55, 4x 74GB Raptors, 2x 7800GTX 512's (or ATI...), x-fi fata1ity soundcard, 240x120mm rad watercooling, innovatech fan-o-matic PRO, 2x slimline slotloading dvd writers, blacklight cold cathode, and anything else ive missed =/ so any ideas on a good psu as well and where to get one from, lol

looking at ur specs, its seems like u have enough money to build ur own country! so i would suggest getting SLI now and crossfire later when/if it proves itself

my psu rocks its 580w and modular u can get it in black or blue

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=228615 < -- blue one that i have

its not to loud either and the box it comes in is like a proper toolbox thing with all the bits in. and im guessin by the fact that u listed cathodes that u hav a window so u want ur case to look as tidy as possible and this is modular so its great for that. also it can support amd 64 and pci-e so no problems in near future and 580w is enough for anyone i think

Well the Armour has a window, but im not using that anymore, the Tai Chi has a pnematic door, lol, so the cathodes wont be on all the time, gonna make a switchbus to control it. That psu looks prettyy good, but i was gonna make a junction box to keep all the wires tidy anyway, though the 100w over my tagan might be just enough.. im not actually sure.

Lol, not quite, i have about £600 spare each month i can buy parts with, so its quite a slow process, so far this month ive only bought a Razer Copperhead and a Z board, so i was thinking of maybe getting a mobo as well this month, or maybe the creative Gigaworks S750, funnily enough Amazon seems to be the cheapest ive found so far for the Gigaworks, lol

This PSU looks like the ideal part for you:

    Liberty 620w

Enermax come highly recommended, and make some quality products. It covers all of the following benefits your looking for:

    SLi/Crossfire
    Modular Cables
Use only the Cables you need.
    Dual Core CPU Support
    12cm Fan (Low Noise)
    Supports Dual PCI-E Graphics.
    620watts

Heres the cheapest place to buy it from too:

    Scan Computers

    Although Tekheads aint far off.

    Hope all this helps

Thanks Hullz-Modz, That PSu certainly looks like it has the power, though £105 for a psu nearly made me fall out of my seat im not sure if i want a modular psu, it looks like it takes up a lot of space, and will be harder to make look good. I'll have a look into it though, because it may be what im looking for like you said

Thanks Buff, i'll look into those, the only thing is i know with the DFI crossfire board they had managed to get 4 dimms working at 1T command rate, and i had heard they were going to implement it on a SLI board as well, as i have 4 1GB dimms its something im interested in, so guess i'll see if anyone else has managed to do this.

BrandX: Thanks as well, ive been seriously considering it, ive gotta work out my exact power requirements first though, make sure it will fullfill it, i already have one psu that isnt powerful enough (Tagan 480) be silly to have two, lol.
