    £300 Laptop Challenge?

I'm looking for a laptop as cheaply as possible to do:

    Word/office applications,
    Browse internet
    watch DVDs

I imagine a spec of roughly P3 1ghz and a 14" screen would be ideal.

I happy with new or refub, just don't know where to look.

    http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/

    For sale/trade forums.

Local paper? Not the best source but could have a look.

    Ebay? Again questionable.

well this will be for my flatmate, it'll need a good amount of ram so everything runs smoothly. though i imagine that i'll need to upgrade that myself since they still ship budget laptops with only 256 shocking!!

have you tried http://www.rdc-shop.co.uk/shops/main.php they normally have some decent 2nd user laptops.

Or http://www.schoolsconnectonline.co.uk. as i have bought a few laptops from them.

    or something like this one

But then i live quite near so i get no postage costs.

The laptop just need to be portable and functinal, all she will use it for is internet, office and dvds.

to get more than 256 MB of ram for £350 is nigh on impossible for a new machine.
In total it would have to be at least £400. You could get one second hand but they
are normally even more than new ones as people havent caught on to how cheap new
    ones are now.
