What the best iPod to go for?

Could do with a new MP3 player and have decided to go iPod.

I have about 3-4gb of stuff that I commonly play - the Val Doonican and Barry Manilow greatest hits, I'm happy to leave on my PC HDD

So what's the best one? Nano, Mini or full version?

Do they all support low bit rate MP3s - I have a number of audiobooks encoded at 24kbps.

Wheres the cheapest place to buy them? (I'm don't mind buying a refurb)

Should I wait a few months for the new range to come out?

Well I have a 60g Ipod video, so that may be overkill if you only have 4gb of stuff.
Sounds like a ipod nano would best suit your needs.
Although..its always better to have more space available to put more music etc on.
I use mine for videos too, so needed as much space as poss.

So you could stretch to the ipod 30g model (and if you wish to put some vids on it even a better proposition) or if not, just get the nano.
Size always factors into the decision process so up to you.

One thing I would say though is be prepared to get better headphones...you wont appreciate the music with teh crappy ipod phones..if you use the tube a lot go with either closed headphones or in ear monitors (Shure, Ultimate Ears), or even Sony EX71SL...
while they are generally costly...if you want to listen to music as its meant to be heard (tm) u need em.

Depends on how much money you have

If you have the funds, I would go for the basic 'real' iPod, I think they work out at around 200quid for the 30gig.

If you can't stretch to that, a 4gig nano would do you nicely - but they are quite fragile remember, and having played with one I can't reccomend one over the full sized thing..i just *know* i would lose it or step on it or something ;/

as MiLaMber said tho be prepared to shell out for some decent headphones for it - Sony EX-71s are perfect for them (best consumer in ear headphones I have ever owned), they cost around 30quid but are well worth it - and they come in white

Reckon you'd get the nano and wish you had something with more space. I recommend the 30GB Video if you have the funds of course.

You could look at an IRiver as well - they're pretty good
