I used to use them a lot, even bought stuff where I used to work from them, then found scan to be better
My last RMA experience was less than desirable, but got there in the end - more on par with Ebuyer than Scan imho. Give them their due, once you get through on the phone they are quite reasonable
Dave
i thought they were ok , i brought an used celeron cpu retail minus the fan , and they sent me a zalman super flower cooler !!!! free !!!!
I've had bad experiences with them.
Do not listen to anyone on the forums if you're looking for an accurate opinion, if you said anything to the contrary you would no longer be on the forums and your post would vanish
I've RMAed stuff to overclockers in the past and they've replaced it reasonably fast, though I heard that things have changed in the past few years. It appears that they're trying to shirk their reseller duties back onto the manufacturers, though, many of their products now carry a 'don't try bugging us about this' message. For an example, look at the small print on this. That looks like a pretty big disincentive to buying from them.
OTOH, I preordered my Conroe E6600 from them and got it in a timely fashion, though buying from another site would not have been much (if any) faster.
theyre crap plain and simple.
the packaging they use is a joke, very flimsy and last minute looking. their RMA service sucks the big ones too as does their customer service. i was charged for an RMA which was faulty and returned to me twice at my own expense, they replaced it the 3rd time they received it but i didnt get my money back for the RMA costs for 3 weeks
the only thing that made me order was the prices, but in the end it was more hassle and id gladly pay a few quid more next time to a reputable company rather than the cowboys ocuk are tbh. im pretty sure the item i got was 2nd hand too, or atleast used.
You mean they pubish a phone number !!!!!!!!Originally Posted by dave87

Seriously, when I had trouble with them a couple of years ago it was impossible to get them on the phone, and that made it much worse. If they are willing to publish a working phone number then they might have improved.
If it where me, I would look elsewhere for what I was after, and only go to overclockers if no one else had it or they where significantly cheaper. Because of my bad experiences I would not go with them just to save 10%.
I would also phone their helpline number, and chose the option for costumer services and see how long it took to be answered.
If I really felt like testing them, I might tell them I had something faulty that I ordered about 9 months ago, and I had lost the receipt so I could not find the order number and could they RMA it for me. When I was in a similar situation with scan they looked through their records and found the order (and then told me it was 15 months so it was out of warranty). The old overclockers would have just told me not to come back until I had all the details.
This post is almost as bad as the 'anti scan' posts on oc's forums.
I have has 3 faulty items out of 20 from oc's and they have replaced all 3 no problem. I was slightly miffed with my leadtek 6800GT being replaced by a GS but generally pretty good.
I think they get bandwagon Flamed.
I'd rather use Scan, but when its much cheaper OC are OK iMO.
to be honest, ive heard a lot of horror stories about them but never experienced anything bad myself, had 4 rma's including "change of mind" all went well surprisingly, + they went out of their way and gave me a free upgrade (purchased a b-grade item back then, was out of stock and got a free upgrade to brand new £100 more card )
I used scan today and they really went out their way to help out, i was really surprised of scan today though, exceeded my expectations
Although i did call scan yesterday to query something the chap was very un-helpful, rung again 2 mins later and spoke to someone else who solved the problem.
obviously ocuk they are not the cheapest but sometimes have spectacular this weeks,
if they could do something about the postage prices it would be great too.
Forums / Spie issues is another story though
Just dont expect fast refunds

expect to wait 25 mins on the phone (0870) to customer services, to tell them that your parts have arrived damaged/used/doa and then expect them to ask you to ring the technical support line (0871) and wait another 20 mins (£4.50 total cost to you). try ringing their non 0870/0871 line and it is picked up and put down again
awful, and a shame they havent got the bottle to be on hexus trust, that says a hell of a lot.
Having bought from them over a number of years I would also recommend them.

I can't comment on their RMA but I've ordered a couple times from them and their next day delivery is very good. Delivery charges are a bit expensive though and I always get the feeling they are overcharging for their products. Often they have an exclusive supply of certain items at the time and can raise their prices. They are not the cheapest. I buy more from Scan now.
from Gibbo regards to the X1950XTX's
You will be able to order the X1950 XTX real soon from OcUK.
We've pulled of quite an impressive deal with ATI which means we will have over
90% of UK allocation and you will be able to get it from OcUK as early as the
23rd August or possibly earlier
lol so anyone at scan heres your chance to get the remainder 10% or so
