    CeBIT 2007 : The bastard son of Intel's P965...

Another innovation from ECS is an Intel P965 board that isn't quite a P965...

    ...the 965PLT-A.

This is an odd-shaped mainboard, pairing up Intel's 945GZ and ICH7.

Check out the pic and thinking behind this oddity - and dive over here to get at all of our coverage from CeBIT.

Integrated graphics are provided by Intel's GMA X3000, as found on P965, and the ICH7 provides native PATA support.
    Are you SURE about that?
X3000 is physically a part of the G965 chipset, 945GZ contains the GMA950.

Unless ECS have started splicing up silicon to create there own unique parts its going to be either one or the other.

Looking at the ECS website reveals that this board is infact using the 946GZ chipset, a cut down version of the G965 which only officially supports 800MHz FSB.

The integrated graphics is GMA 3000 as featured in the Q965, not GMA X3000 as in the G965. So some features are trimmed here.

Really this chipset is aimed at OEM's for the E4x00 Core 2 Duo processors but the unofficial 1066FSB support will make it interesting for those looking to upgrade to a E6x00 on a budget.
