We've alluded to a 130W TDP, and that remains the same as the QX6700.
The temps have not specifically been mentioned because variables such as the CPU being an engineering sample, ambient temperature, type of cooling, fan speed, etc., can all skew the figure markedly. Therefore quouting one figure is almost completely arbitrary.
Anyway, with a stock heatsink and fan running at 2,500RPM we hit a load temp of around 65°C.
Of course, better cooling and/or a different setup will influence that figure.
Can I borrow this for a week or so please? Failing that, can I have it?

I can understand all that, but the major factor for me is how hot things run. The reference heatsink is a good one to use as a comparision, imo.
Obviously, some people might throw delta's on it, water, phase, who knows, but a rough guide on temps is always good.

uuh, whats the point of this CPU?? I dont get it.
The QX6700 also has an unlocked multiplier, so why not just buy that and hit the multiplier up 1x???

It guarantees you 2.93GHz (and, most likely, 3.4GHz+) and will be priced at QX6700 levels, so anyone considering purchasing the latter will be better off waiting for this one to come into stock.
The multiplier-unlocked QX6700 will disappear ASAP, too, replaced by a locked version running at 2.67GHz.
the AMD 6000+ at £156.28 from Scan is sure looking attractive even with the C2D Performance.

And there's me thinking that - although it's not been tested this time round - the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, at £185 from Scan, is getting ever more attractive.
I just curse the fact that whatever CPU I end up going for next, it's going to require a completely new motherboard, along with new RAM and graphics card.
Guess I'll just have to stick with my trusty Athlon 64 3200+ for now.

Its a pity you were unable clock the 6700 allong side the 6800 in the review?
