Is this case big enough to take an 8800gts or gtx? I do like the look of this case but size these days is everything. Maybe give that information when reviewing in the future?

We are currently refreshing out test kit to take account of both the hottest and the biggest cards available.

We will obviously include this in future reviews.

Looking at the 8800 I have here in my own machine, its unlikely to fit in this chassis if its in GTX flavour, GTS on the other hand should be fine....I think.

Would need to have a spare to check it against, I can measure the space though, ill be back shortly with that info for you.

270mm from the edge of the PCI expansion plate to the very edge of the 3.5" bays at the front of the chassis.

So the GTX is out at 267mm, but the GTS should be fine.

What's with the current trend of not showing a side-on shot of the case with the test setup installed? I think it gives the reader a much better indication of the size & layout of the case when they can actually see a systen installed in it.

Someone needs to fix the Where2Buy section of the review. The review is for the Triton 180. In the Where2Buy section it says:

The Triton is available in black or silver from SCAN Computers for just £48.94.

The words black and silver are links to the product pages. The wording is right - the Triton is available from Scan. However that's not the product that was reviewed. The review was for the Triton 180 not the Triton. These are different cases. Scan do not far as I can see sell the Triton 180.

hmm it seems they have updated the chassis somewhere and its all gone wrong.

I think the Triton 180 is the update to the Triton rather than visa versa. The review of the Triton 180 I found are all from the last few months and refer to it as 'new'. Very few places seem to have the Triton 180 compared to the Triton, maybe suggesting they're trying to clear stock before getting the Triton 180. Also product names tend to get longer rather than shorter on revisions.

I've so far only found it on sale at http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.aspx?sku=336277
and ghstech.co.uk, who's website is cunningly constructed so as to make bookmarking or providing urls for a particular product impossible. (They also unhelpfully show a picture of the Triton despite the product description and specification being for the Triton 180.)

I only noticed this post now, so I though I would give my 2 cents worth.

Gigabyte have both the Triton and Trion180.
Very similar inside, its just the front panel that is better (Triton 180) in my opinion.
2x 120mm fans as standard w/anti-vibration mounts, Cable management, Water-Cooling ready, tool-less design, etc…

I also found out that the 8800GTX can fit inside this case.
As long as the card is no longer than 275mm.

I’m not sure why Scan don’t have this in stock, because other companies do, such as www.GHSTECH.co.uk

I think that the Triton is a nice looking case and it has won numerous awards, including Editors Choice.

I do have some pictures of the 8800GTX fitting inside the Trion 180, but I don't know how to insert them

If you want it buy it anywhere but ghstech. Seriously. I bought a graphics card from ghstech yesterday and it was a miserable experience. So miserable I already complained to them and wrote it up at http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=115176

I'm just wondering if anyone could clear this up for me. There are two 120mm fans preinstalled with the case, and they have a regular 3 pin connection. But doesn't anything over 80mm generally need a 12v supply to run properly? Can these fans run off the motherboard properly?

Also, like a silly billy I ordered 4 harddrives to put in this case as I forgot it could only take 3. Could I use one of the 3.5" removable bay slots to install one of the harddrives?

The Triton180 can take up to 5x 3.5inch drives in total (3x Internal & 2x External)

With regards to the 3-pin connection, I'm not sure about the 12v.

But, I have the Gigabyte Poseidon and the fans work in the same way - 2x 120mm connected to one 3-pin power connector and I do not seem to have any problems - its all good

Oh, thanks for the info mate. Actually, I figure that 12v fans always come with Molex connectors, so this must work with whatever the 3pin comes at. Appreciate the reply
