Headline :: Tesco price blitz angers retailers

Tesco have dropped the price of numerous videogames on their website with PC games from as little as £3 and Xbox 360 games from just £15.

... as long as you can blink back the understanding that Tesco, as a corporation are almost as despicable as WalMart/ASDA. Still, I'll take Rockstar table tennis for £15.

I'd like to hear more about that. I know a couple of people who vow never to shop at Tesco, but I've never really investigated why.

    Hear hear.

Everyone bashes tesco's for huge profits, then when they cut their profit margins, everyone bashes them more. I doubt the act is totally selfless, but it's the customers who get the low prices.

I know their a big evil corporation, but without value select i probably would have starved to death in college

Probably wouldn't of had bedding, furniture or a microwave either. All bought from my local evil tesco superstore.

    Bloody hear hear!

Tesco do the job and do the job well, how do they sell things so cheap? Slaying children...abusing animals...no, they just sell lots of it so make the profit anyway, its classic capitalism. I am so bored with people slanging Tescos for bringing prices down and then having the cheek to make a profit, provide employment in a non-discriminatory way, imagine that. Also not only do they cater for a wide food market from value to finest but their own products often taste better, cost less and are better for you.

Its about about time someone bought margins down on console games, if they cost so much to make how come PC versions are sold at half the price or less?

Well yes actually, I lost both my children to Tescos - and once they slew them they didn't offer a replacement, all I got was a bag of mince.

Tesco have market forces on their side - they apply pressure to traders to sell to them at rock bottom prices, this hits the root of the (food) supply chain. Suppliers cant afford to loose the contract so they comply making the slack elsewhere (perhaps grains for example). Tescos suck life out of communities, farmers, workers and the environment. Though I'm very pleased that you enjoy your cheap prices, no really I am, you seem to consider in a tactical manner, strategically it doesn't look so good... Have a badge.

Not to mention the fact thier Tesco Express stores that pop up all over the country ruin small, privately owned convenience shops. Although I don't mind them ruining places like Spar and Smile, their store prices are rediculously inflated

Although good on them for lowering game prices.

The family owned corner shop was long dead before tesco express appeared tbh. Spar and 24/7 had already accomplished that and Anywhere that doesn't charge 75p for a can of coke is good by me.

    hear hear

if Tesco were more like Waitrose, and helped farmers and suppliers to plan ahead, we'd be a lot healthier here in the uk.

anyone here got cheap broadband? ever wished you'd paid a bit more for the service so it lasted and did the job?

    well......Tesco= Orange/Sky and Waitrose= Zen.

but the games thing is only another string to the Tesco bow.

Just to let you know some of the games are actually cheaper in store than the website.
I bought Lost Planet last saturday for £25 in store and it's up on the site for £39,
it seems the older (those that are on the platinum label or close to being on the platinum label) are the ones to look out for.
