What can I say, loving S.T.A.L.K.E.R, so as with F.E.A.R. the expansion seems an essential purchase, however flawed the game is. It's all about the winning combination of immersive story line and playability.

What's four years away? The game is out in early 2008, which is 6 months or so... the 2011 referred to in the article is GAME time...
I just read the top of the thread and kopites post.
Surely they need to iron out the original game bugs before they release an expansion. Hopefully the expansion release will be coupled with a significant patch.
It is... there's a new game engine in there along with AI improvements, inventory and interface improvements, faster travelling between locations...

It's a good trend to follow where the expansion pack it actally better than the original game, a trend that's thankfully growing rather than decreasing. Take FEAR for example, I thought Exctraction Point was actually better, same with DOOM3's Ressurection of Evil, MechWarrior 3: Pirate's Moon and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Mission Pack: Desert Siege.
