Steve Jobs' iPhone open letter: What he says and what we think he means

Moving to lure yet more phone users away from the comfort zone that is a device with tactile feedback, Steve Jobs this week cut the price of the iPhone to two thirds of its launch price. In response to the furore from avid, but out of pocket Apple fans, Jobs was compelled to write an open letter to the masses.

So we read between the lines.

A mate of mine just pointed out that if Steve Jobs responded directly to that article it'd be "Steve vs. Steve - The showdown". I'd win, hands down!

Oh, and if you like it please Digg it to share it with the world

Re: Steve Jobs' iPhone open letter: What he says and what he means

How presumptious of you to think that your febrile rant can possibly comprehend the vast and immutable genuis of our commander-in-c(t)hief, Steve Jobs.

His business acumen is beyond reproach, and no-one should be allowed to question the motives of the Great One. Was it not for one super-man's vision, you'd have no virtual global monopoly on portable music players, and, would you scarcely believe, no blatent price-fixing between different iTunes markets. How could we, the proletariat, allow the Great One to not indulge in, what some might think are, mild forms of extortion is beyond me.

Let's not forget that the iPhone is a work of monumental genius, and it should be compared to the Mona Lisa, at the very, very least. All you have to do is bow down and stare in wonder at such a technological marvel and be thankful that it was unleashed in your lifetime, Steve K!

Seems as though Apple and AT&T may have to sort out a few snags with the Iphone's itemised billing too - just search Google for 'Iphone big bills' .......

Re: Steve Jobs' iPhone open letter: What he says and what we think he means

You missed the fact that Jagdish Rebello of iSuppli predicted the iPhone price-cut in January. All the crybabies whining about the price-cut just hadn't bothered to read around before buying one.

Obviously Apple fed the iPhone hype, they had a product to sell. But the nutters who queued up for a product that was in plentiful supply were generating an RDF all of their own. If people were working themselves into a frenzy over the opportunity to throw a lot of money at me I might roll my eyes, but I'd have nets up to catch the cash, and so would you.

Frankly, if you were willing to spend $600 on it, then that is what the device is worth to you...

I just think it's hilarious how all the early adopters on MacRumors.com complained like no tommorow (the price cut forum thread got 51 pages of replies within 24 hours) and then when Mr Jobs gave them a hundred bucks back, they all went down on one knee and proclaimed his greatness..
