just to add, some OC cards are not very well QC'ed as the overclock may be stable on certain older games, the clockspeed basically causes intermittent crashes on various other newer more demanding games such as Crysis annd GoW..

One of my current 2 cards was preclocked to 660/2000 and it passes the 3Dmark06 stress with flying colours (24 hrs loop).. but crashes horrendously in Crysis and GoW once every couple of games.. Ramping up fan speed seems to solve the problem but again, that is far from wat everyone would want to do..

Best if you guys could get it to stress test a little...

Hi ... I have just read the report about the GeForce 8800 GT.
From the pictures it is really much slimmer than the chunky GTS version.

I just wonder ... £ 175.- is still good money for a graphics card, and that's why I'm thinking of using my next PC with the on board graphics first, and get the card later.

Would anyone know if the GMA 3500 on the motherboard Asus P5E-VM HDMI would be good enough for playing Halo Combat Evolved ?
CPU would be Q6600, 2.4 GHz (don't know if the CPU makes so much difference since the GPU does most of the graphics job ?

It would be very interesting for me to see the differences of 3D performance in dependency of the CPU. Multi-core is the future, but where exactly is the advantage if the software doesn't support it ?
If the game itself doesn't utilizes more than one core, wouldn't that be a waste of resources ?

My current CPU is still a Pentium 4 (2,8 GHz) single core.
Would I notice a difference to a Intel Core2Duo or Quad with the same frequency ?
Even if the multi core only uses one single core ?
Is the step from Pentium 4 to Core2Duo so big to justify talking about a new generation ?
Would it be theoretical a Pentium 5 then ?

I read that top graphics accelerator are hardly able to keep up with the game Crysis.
Where do we go from here ? Do you think GeForce and ATi will come up with some mindblowing hardware in the near future which can handle demanding games like this ? Or are some games just badly programmed ? I ask because Halo runs on weaker PCs while some games (compareable to halo) don't even start and demand higher specs, while they're not neccessarily in higher quality.

If Crysis is so hungry already, what do you think will new games demand, coming out in the next few years ? Seems we need a new breakthrough in graphics technology.

Sad to see that new bought hardware is outdated within months (not years!) ... but then again, what would we do if there were no development ?
Just wished the different manufacturer would sit at one table before they bring their products on the market. If they would pull at one string instead of everybody cooking their own soup, we had good quality PCs like Apple Macs.
People who know the difference, know what I'm talking about.

If they had thought properly before they brought out HD and BluRay DVDs they could have saved the consumer a lot of money.
BluRay is going to win the battle because 75 % of the market has decided so - thanks god. Quality wins for once. HD has a resolution of 1280 x 720 and BluRay has 1920 x 1080. It's easy to see which format is the better one.


Imagine a complete PC designed by top class people and developed by one single clever team - everything must just work. Inovation everywhere !

Do you have ideas for improvements ? I have plenty.
But think 20 years back for a moment, when 80286 was state of the art and 80386 was the Killer ... I hardly dare to remember what I was willing to put up with:
The damn autoexec.bat and config.sys ... some programs didn't even bother to start if they had the wrong parameters. Oh my god ! Do you remember that ?
Makes me remember something else: the 640Kb barrier and all the other flaws of the curse called BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY.

I wonder how much ballast do our latest generation of CPUs still carry from the mistakes made in the past ?
And how much quicker could they be if designed from scratch ? Being able to neglect all the pre-historic burden from 27 years ago.

Hmmm I just bought this card after reading a few older reviews in which the card was running 700/1680/2000. 650/1500/1900 was not was I was expecting at all.

This bundled BIOS update....where can it be found? Looked through the disk supplied but found nothing

650 MHz (Core) - 1500 MHz (Shader) - 1900 MHz (Memory) ... instead of up to 702 MHz (Core) - 1674 MHz (Shader) - 2000 MHz (Memory)

In the review it says: "... those speeds are only available through a BIOS that's packaged in with the bundle", but where is the BIOS and how exactly does the update work ?

In general, you will find two models in the market only.

1) 8800GT 512MB OC (650/1900)
2) standard 8800GT (600/1800)

The reviewer of hexus uses our card to overclock and find out the limit is 702/2000, but it is not recommended for long time usage.

You may try to overclock the card by a 3rd party software as well, but, it is for fun only.

can anyone confirm if this card Inno3D 8800GT 512MB support directx 9.0 c I no it support directx 10 but it does not say anything about directx 9.0 c

it's backwards compatible of course it will support dx9 and before. im guessing most of the features of dx10 were enhanced from dx9 anyway.
