    I'm quietly impressed by this.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Thank God!!!
    I'm so sick of paying like 1.5x the amount the US has to pay for new tech!
    I really really hope other companies follow suit! I guarentee that I'll be buying more stuff if they lower the prices to reflect the exchange rate, mainly cos I'll have more money to spend on the stuff instead of getting ripped off in the first place!
    Thank you AMD! lol

    If it was sub-£250 I'd consider selling my 8800GT...

    It's actually true for the regular 3870's and 3850's too!

    But not Phenoms...which is a shame because it means they don't compete as well on price over here (a 9500 would be in the £110 range) as in the US

    Adobe should take a look at this! Their $=£ attitude is nasty.

    But timmy, think of the cost of translating the software from US english to UK english!

    How stupid of me, how could I forget that they spend weeks translating it to 'International English'. Obviously we're far too dumb to work out what words like color could possibly mean...

    I'd be quite happy to buy an american version at half the price! Adobe... are you listening? no I thought not.

    heh, yeah i guess that was pretty bitter. It does irritate me though how we are getting the same product for a hell of a lot more ££.

    Nice one AMD for pricing it right, and lets hope other companies follow suit some time soon.

    Re: Headlines - 3870 X2 UK pricing refreshingly low

    There isn't significantly higher costs on most computer components in the uk than the US. there are a few stores that hike prices massively for NO reason whatsoever. THe biggest culprit is OCUK. because they are a small store with a limited product range more at the enthusiast computer builder rather than a massive store like dabs, they put focus on getting stuff like gfx cards in asap compared to dabs who have no real incentive to get stuff in so quickly because gfx isn't their main income, where for OCUK it might be.

    EIther way i got the overclocked version of the MSI 3870x2 for £260 off dabs today. where ocuk are charging £300 for non overclocked versions of other cards on pre-order, dabs also have the sapphire at £269. There are lots more about at the £270 mark, though scan and a few others have the msi overclocked version in at £320ish because well, they are idiots.

    Pricing on cpu's, mobo's and most other bits aren't bad in a USA vs UK comparison once you do the conversion and add 17.5% for vat. its almost dead on for most bits, as long as you buy from the right places.

    I've said it before and i'll say it again, manu's sell cards at a RRP designed to make everyone on the sales chain a profit, if its going above RRP in price then someones making more profit than usual. Any other electrical stuff, tv's, stereo kit, cars, anything. stuff STARTS at rrp when in poor stock and only drops when people start to compete for sales. If a few places in the uk can have stock within 24 hours of release at RRP, if any other stores are charging 20% more, that means they are pocketing the difference.
