Re: Razer teases its forthcoming mouse

Anyone else think that mouse technology as regards DPI has really peaked? Surely anything above say 1600DPI isn't really that noticeable? We need some other innovation with mouse technology now - more DPI is just not cutting the cheese anymore (mouse - cheese - geddit? )

I think the performance potential is already there with the current "mice." Now they just need to release a mouse which doesn't have so many bugs/problems as the others (check out "razer blueprints").

Re: Razer teases its forthcoming mouse

I wish they'd stop working on stupidly high dpi, and focus on making the most of wireless mice......i agree that wired dpi mice have peaked - 200dpi, full laser sensor, 1000hz usb polling, ergonomics and extra buttons.....there's nowhere else to go.....

All I want is a Logitech g7 with TWO thumb buttons, like the 2nd version g5, OR a 200dpi mx revolution.....

Plus, this new mouse in the article - its a razer, so itl have all the ergonomics of brick on a wire

I assume you've never used a Deathadder, the ergonomics are simply brilliant, love mine to bits.

Re: Razer teases its forthcoming mouse

I've got a Deathadder (Large for gaming), a Diamondback (medium) and a Krait (bit smaller than Diamondback)
All are totally great to use - although the scroll wheel on the Deathadder is actually better than on the other 2

Question Re: Razer teases its forthcoming mouse

It looks like a deathadder at the front with a raised rear edge as opposed to the deathadders sloping back down to the base. It's got a scroll wheel but... no visible side buttons.

At first I thought the lighter bar down the side of the left button was a one piece rocker side button but it just seems to be the gloss button finish (different from the deathadder's rubber coated buttons). Also the buttons are seperate moulded pieces as opposed to the deathadder's flexy attached design. A one piece side button would be a good design feature as you wouldn't have to move your thumb between buttons, just rock it in the same position.

Variable dpi is an 'in' feature but I haven't seen a good implementation of a method of easily and ergonomically switching while using the rest of the mouse. A little touch sensitive slider bar above the scroll wheel would be a very useable method.

They show the front of the mouse in the clip which looks pretty featureless - maybe there's a lot going on round the rear?

Time will tell I guess but I dont think I'll be upgrading from my deathadder.

NB: All ideas in this post are the intellectual property of me! If mouse companies want to use them I am open to discussion... ;-)

Re: Razer teases its forthcoming mouse

Ive used the DeathAdder, Diamondback and Lachesis. The deathadder feels the most comfortable, the diamondback is smaller, but feels weird when you are first holding it, and the Lachesis is just abnormally big, and thus, again, feels weird when you first start holding it. I got less awkward as time progressed, however I could still feel there was something "wrong" with it - I was able to "feel" it in my hand more so than one should when holding a mouse, if you get me.

Not sure what this is going to offer apart from a high RRP
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
