Well Ultra would imply it is actually better... It looks like it is just a pre overclocked gtx...
Yeah, ultra would be consistent. I think this 55nm refresh was meant to be the 9800GT but they decided to up the clocks to compete with the new ATi cards.
Irregardless of silly naming convention, I'm glad AMD/ATi have rattled NVs cage enough for them to drop the price and announce an updated version of the 9800GTX.
Looks like things are getting serious again, which is good for us consumers!
Definately! If these new cards dont really offer us enough of a performance boost at least the sheer closeness of the competition will push the companies to get somethign special on the table.
One thing i do wonder though, did NVidia screw themselfs over with the GX2? surely if they had just not bothered with it and pushed forward the production of the GTX280 people would have been far more impressed with its performance?
Wonder exactly why they have dropped the memory speed by 200mhz? Hope is still goign to be possible to overclock the memory up to at least teh original amount, and its just ndivia trying to avoid enroaching on the higher priced cards territory.
