Interesting article, just thought I'd point out a spelling mistake.

i think this only covers very recently made machines.
I can't wait to try this new Nvidia sauce everyone's talking about.
as long as g92 is allright.... then i'm happy
with it looking like heat cycling being the problem, IN a laptop even a lower powered chipset has relatively poor cooling so as soon as it turns on it pretty much hits a high temp, then goes cool on shutdown which when you leave your laptop for 2 mins it will go into standby(for most people).
So heat cycling is at its worst in laptops.
With desktops heat cycling due to usage patterns is said to be worse, with lots of people who turn their comps on when they get home, leave it on and less effort with standby powering down its cycled less. But people are wondering if In time the problems won't also develope. Untill, and if they do it will probably be very hard to tell if the G80 is affected just on Nvidia's say so, as they also said this was definately and only a HP problem from one batch. With apparently, Dell, Asus and a bunch of other manufactures forums having a high number of threads of failing Nvidia laptops, that already seems a certain lie. They might just get lucky that desktop cards last long enough before failing, and the lack of G80 high end products in laptops might save them. TBH I don't know if there is a G80 part out yet for laptops, if there is, it came a hell of a lot later than the 8600/8700 and lower parts came out for laptops so could yet start to fail.
