I'm confused. It's essentially the same model isn't it, just with a larger drive.

To clear up confusion.
This 80GB model is a new model. The 80GB model out there at the moment has PS2 backward compatibility. The new one doesn't.
It's the 40GB model with an 80GB HDD.
LOL, so there's now two 80GB PS3's in the US. I'd guess the older one will be phased out? God knows.
