Mirror's Edge - run for your life!

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes.

That looks really good actually. Be interesting to what the control base is like and how much freedom you actually have with all the movements shown

Re: Mirror's Edge - run for your life!

With regards to movement, from what i gather it'll be pretty standard forward backward, strafe, look controls with the option to sprint etc. Where it gets interesting is that there'll be contextual buttons depending on where you are. So say you're bolting for a wall with a gap underneath, there'll be buttons to specify whether you go up and over, slider underneath and so forth. At least this is the impression interviews have given, it's got to be console friendly as well as WASD - although this looks like the sort of game that is going to be preferable on a game pad.

I really like the way that the weapons are realistically heavy - so you can't free run if you're holding a rocket launcher or a sub-machine gun. Although i wonder if you can carry a pistol with you, if not then never mind, you can just wall run and deck the guy from the head down!

As for the usual, the graphics look fantastic and they're not "realistic brown". Hopefully they'll sort out this issue with reflections - whether they'll be realtime or not - but otherwise it's looking stunning. Some of the screenshots (or claimed screenshots) are pretty much photorealistic.

I wonder if the freedom will be like assassin's creed? I can just see it being one button press to be jumping, grabbing hold of a bar etc. They could introduce timing into the mix as well I guess... That said I'm still interested in the game, I always like something a bit different.

looks very nice but can't say the running and jumping stuff will be that interesting an hour or so in and it looks abit too sparse.

The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx
