Re: Features - The greatest music and rhythm-based videogames

Never got into the rhythm based games. Just recently got a metal dancemat for the PS2 for the daughters birthday and can't get away with it at all. Mind you she loves it.

On the other hand me and he wife have been thinking on getting Guitar Hero for the Wii, should be quite fun

I had Parappa on the PSX but never actually played it!

I think Guitar Hero is a good place to start though

been playing a lot of GH3 and DS:U recently. the latter really gets you hot & sweaty

and, for reference, is easier played without trousers.

Re: Features - The greatest music and rhythm-based videogames

    Other classics, to my mind:

    Vib Ribbon - PSX/1

You're a rabbit who has to navigate a ribbon (a white line really). You can put your own CD in the playstation and the game will automatically create a track based on the rhythm of the song. There are only four buttons used: up, down, triangle, x and you press one when the corresponding shape comes near. However, you can get complicated shapes using combinations of these - so x and triangle makes a funny zigzaggy pit to somersault over.

    Audiosurf - PC via Steam

A new classic, letting you play with your own tunes. Praised for only being 5 quid!

Like elite beat agents, there's also Ouendan! the Japanese original version:

Whiternoise - Spot on with Vib Ribbon I think that is just an awesome game. My friends and I spent days/weeks/months playing that game with commercial and home made music CDs.

    Those were the days...

Parappa the Rappa was fun but not as inventive as Vib Ribbon.

I lent my PSOne to someone about 5 years ago with PaRappa the Rappa. I so want it back now, just to play it one more time.
