Good review.
No mention (I think) of the slightly craper sections where you are not on foot though - the tank, Brumak and flying thing, none are that much fun to play.
Also the pacing is a bit off sometimes, the 4th chapter in particular, drags on a bit too long, and looks too samey.
Also there are no really satisfying boss battles - you spend 3/4 of the game chasing the Queen's right hand Locust, and when you finally fight him, it's all about dodging his attacks.
Overall it's more fun and looks better than Halo, CoD, BioShock, etc.
Shooter of the year.
I'll have to play through the first one again, it dumped my save game after i played a co-op game and couldn't be bothered to do it all again.
But it looks so good i might have to play no1 again and buy this in January.
shame the multiplayer is broken on number 2, at the moment its a chainsaw fest. I just hope people stick around till its patched so they can see what an amazing game it really is.
I know someone that skived off of school just to go and buy the special edition of this game. Strange people that this world has.
what was the 4th chapter stew?
and agreed with the end..
still good fun though, gonna wait till its about £20 then buy it (rented it)
i quite enjoyed the machines you control, feeling powerful after shooting people for hours when they hide behind walls and then suddenly get to shoot like 10 missiles at once and kill a small army for most satisfying
Completed the campaign earlier this week and found it really entertaining. Definately larger in scale and prettier to look at than the first but I didn't find it to be quite as intense; nothing in this version compared to the scene where you're being chased down by the Berserker! Found the pacing to be pretty spot-on and preferred the less obvious Act-ending markers. Achievements seemed more forthcoming too.
That's nothing, I lost a job after getting hooked on Elite Frontier and nearly lost another because of Civilization III
It's called Hive, it's very long, like most of the levels on the game, but it all looks the same, so it tends to drag on a bit.
The IGN review mentioned the pacing issues, and I have to agree. Twice as many different levels that lasted half as long would have been better.
The pacing certainly isn't 'spot on' regardless.
That's me lost anyway... Didn't like GoW... didn't think it had replay value, therefore had no value. About 20 hours gameplay max (easiest and then hardest difficulty...)Originally Posted by article
same for just about any fps then if you only play single player
if you have mates who play, horde mode is worth the pennies alone
im just playing horde, not started the main game yet. just a pair of us playing we have been stuck at level 29 for quite a while now
Finished the single player game on first weekend, and as ive no gold membership can't do the co-op i loved it as a game tho but then again loved GOW
