hmmm... guess next year i'll be seriously considering a 80ish GB SSD for boot and a 1TB Samsung for everything else.
Specially if MS gets off ass about SSD tech. Or that new tech being built into SSD's to streamline writes (aka caching them to do burst writes in sequence rather than random writes.)
Dam ive messed up my lass bought me a couple of OCZ SSD's for xmass.
Sick as a parrot ....

Good point, the email press release said 60 but the one on the website and the product page both say 160, so I guess that's the correct figure. Sorry for the confusion.
What are the chances of a high end SSD benchtest comparison roundup from Hexus? nudge nudge
I'm very interested to see if the newer OCZ drives give real world performance anywhere near the Intel enterprise SSD. (SLC)

More of a concern is whether the stuttering problem with the MLC drives has been solved. The speeds are of little significance when the drive is practically unusable on standard motherboard SATA controllers - that's what's stopping the flush-feeling enthusiasts moving over currently.
apparently a few reg tweaks have sorted out the OCZ ssd's stuttering.
if you are going to have a high end round up (and I mean real high end) then see if you can get ahold of an ioDrive. They blow SSDs out of the water using the same technology, so none of that horribly complicated RAM drive stuff that Gigabyte were pedaling a while back.
I was just reading the tweaktown review of the 80GB ioDrive - 500-700MB/s !!
Just imagine the speeds when it's run in various raid configs.. buh...
Massive, massive impact for enterprise DB apps..

Stoo here are the links I read about sorting the stuttering problem.

If you give them a whirl let us know how you got on. cheers
I wonder if we could see a come back for storage cards like this. They used to be reasonably common back in the 286 and 386 days when onboard drive controllers were optional. Granted they were just normal hard drives screwed to the end of a ISA card with the IDE controller sitting in the middle, but they were the same idea at the time.
A consumer version of the ioDrive would get my attention.
