Re: Beans - Corsair jumps into SSD (solid-state disc) market with a splash

More players the better, read/write speeds might be a bit low but if the price is right it'll still be a winner
SSDs are super due to typical low access times (0.1-0.4ms or so) even Velociraptors are at least 5ms
    Alternative controller sounds great too.

Interesting... not quite an Intel SSD, but I expect it won't cost £1000 either...

Glad people are ditching that shonky JMicron controller.

Can't get too excited at the sub 100 speeds, but 400?! Wow. What would that be like in RAID0?! I'm hoping the glut of manufacturers jumping on the SSD bandwagon should result in notably lower prices by the end of the year.

    400MB/s read speeds
I bet this get's the 'dominator' name tag as that speed is very impressive and might make me move from traditional storage solutions.

Bit pointless having a 400 MB/s drive when SATA2 will be saturated at 300 MB/s...

Edit: I guess SATA 6Gb/s will be along before these come out. Should be sometime this year according to google.

We where looking at buying some of those for our app servers.

Thing is you can get that fiber channel SAN stuff which is pratically as fast, for less cost!

FAR to slow for that price.

Most people don't need 128GB of fast data. the MLC Intel stuff at 80gig is about that price and twice as fast.
