    Yep

TBH I think unless their next one is jaw droppingly good (which I will put money on it not) it will be the end for them

Times have changed, The days of Mortal Kombat, Killer instinct, clayfighter, gods of war and to a point tekken are over. Only ones that seem popular still are street fighter (flogging a very alive cash filled horse....) and tekken/soul caliber and a couple of others seem to do ok like DOA (but horrendous film)

how can you say such a thing about DOA the movie.

it had me and the missus in stitches throughout the entire movie, we just couldn't stop laughing at the horrendous acting. and really poor storyline.

To be honest, of the list, only Mortal Kombat spawned enough sequel for that observations to be accurate. KI was well received (more than I understood), and I reckon that it only faded in fans memory because no further sequels were made in over a decade.

KI is still one of my favourites. Since Rare had moved to miscrosoft I've always hoped they would have created an XBLA version.

The last MK (vs DC) wasn't too bad, I quite enjoyed it.

Re: News - What next for the Mortal Kombat franchise?

KI is one of the games that there seem to be constant rumours of a sequel.

I reckon especially in the current climate with the popularity sf4 has garnered then a new KI would go down well

If you think about it, the last KI game came out the same year as Duke Nukem 3D. Only difference is that there has been no actual talk of development in progress. But it does show how long it's been.
